HAMMOND | In its first pool-play game of the tournament, East Boise, Ida. clubbed five home runs ... but got clubbed itself as Grand Forks, N.D. nearly 10-runned the game before winning 16-8.

Catcher Kaleb Johnson homered and doubled, Coby Tweten doubled twice and Will Eagleson had two singles for Grand Forks, which rebounded from an 8-1 loss against host Hammond on Friday.

Dan Marlow homered twice, and Matt Stefanic, Cooper Atkinson and Alex McFarland-Smith all went deep for East Boise, which had a total of seven extra-base hits but was betrayed by its defense which committed six errors.

Grand Forks took advantage of several of them during an eight-run rally in the second inning after East Boise took a 4-0 lead.

Next up for Grand Forks (1-1) is Kingsbridge, NY at 8 p.m. today. East Boise will play Opp, Ala. at 12:30 p.m. today.
