HAMMOND | Alex McFarland-Smith drove in the tying and go-ahead runs during a three-run rally in the bottom of the fifth inning to help East Boise, Ida. win a crucial pool-play game against Opp, Ala.

Both teams were fighting to stay out of a winless hole after losing their openers.

McFarland-Smith also made a stellar play in right field on a sinking line drive while doubling off a runner who strayed from first.

Dan Marlow and Matt Stefanic had two hits each for East Boise, which will play Kingsbridge 5:30 p.m. Monday.

Taylur Schively was 3-for-4 with a home run, and Trey Moody had two hits for Opp, which will face Hammond Optimist in a must-win game at 8 p.m. Monday.
