Pre-tryout volleyball camps at SSS Complex

CRETE | A "pre-tryout" camp for junior high and high school volleyball players who may be on the "bubble" of making their teams or are competing against several others for the same starting position will be held July 26-29 at the South Suburban Sports Complex in Crete. Junior high players (grades 5-8) will meet from 1 to 2:30 p.m.; high school players (grades 9-12) will meet from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. Costs are $60 for junior high players and $80 for high school players.

Individual volleyball training for all ages will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. July 24 and 31, and from 1 to 5 p.m. July 31 at the SSS Complex. Cost is $25 per hour.

Amateur Boxing Fight Night at Soccer Dome

Hospice Hustle bike ride set for Sept. 26

CROWN POINT | Registration is open for the Hospice Hustle, a noncompetitive bike ride to benefit Hospice of the Calumet Area. Participants may select one of two routes, traveling 25 or 62 miles through southern Lake County. Both routes begin and end at the Lake County Fairgrounds in Crown Point. Cyclists may check in starting at 7 a.m. Riding runs from 8 to 10 a.m.

Entry fee is $25, or $30 the day of the event. Cyclists are encouraged to solicit pledges for each mile ridden. Registration brochures may be downloaded at www.hospicecalumet.org.
