South Suburban PADS hosts annual golf outing
GLENWOOD | South Suburban PADS (Public Action to Deliver Shelter) will host its 13th annual golf outing at the newly renovated Glenwoodie Golf Course in Glenwood. The outing will be Aug. 15. Registration is at 9:30 a.m., a putting contest is at 10 a.m., the shotgun start is at 11 a.m. and the awards buffet banquet is at 4:30 p.m. There will be a hole-in-one "Winner's Choice" prize of trip for two, valued at $10,000.

SSC hosts Bodybuilding and Figure Championships
SOUTH HOLLAND | The South Suburban College Overall Body Fitness Club is hosting the 2011 Classic Bodies Bodybuilding and Figure Championship V on Aug. 6 in the Kindig Performing Arts Center.
The adult entry fee is $40, $20 for each additional category. The student entry fee is $30, $15 for each additional category.

Hatch Classes offered for new volleyball officials
HOBART | The Lake County Officials Association will be hosting Hatch Classes for new volleyball officials from 6 to 8 p.m. July 25, July 28, Aug. 2 and Aug. 4 in the community room of the Hobart Public Library, 100 Main St., Hobart. Topics to be covered include introduction to officiating, ethics, rules and definitions, signals and mechanics and preparation for the IHSAA licensing exam. There is no cost for attending the class, but persons must pay a $45 application fee to the IHSAA.

Mayor's Cup Regatta Sunday on Wolf Lake
HAMMOND | The Mayor's Cup Sailboat Regatta will be held Sunday on Wolf Lake in Hammond and hosted by the Illiana Yacht Club on the west shore of the lake. High School Fall Baseball League taking signups
The High School Fall Baseball League and Exposure Tour, which will consist of a network of wooden bat leagues in eight cities and towns across Indiana including St. John, Portage and Rensselaer, is taking signups for all incoming 2011 high school baseball players. League championship teams earn births into the Indiana Fall State Championship Tournament, top players will participate in the Indiana All-Star Exposure Game, each team will play a College Game Day at a college/university during the regular season, and each player will receive a free profile from Showcase U Sports.

Hammond Chiefs holding Wooden Bat League

Charity baseball game at Oil City Stadium
WHITING | The Chicagoland Roys Hobbs Baseball League will be hosting a charity baseball game to benefit the Whiting Police and Fire departments, and the Whiting Bullpen Club, an organization that supports the Whiting High School baseball team. The game, which will take place at 6 p.m. Whiting's Oil City Stadium at Standard Diamonds Park, will pit the Chicago Fire Department vs. the Chicago Police Department.

CHICAGO | Hustle for the Hounds, a running team representing American Greyhound, an organization that rescues and finds homes for greyhounds retiring from dog tracks and breeding facilities, is looking for runners to compete in the Rock 'n' Roll Chicago Half Marathon on Aug. 14 and the Bank of America Chicago Marathon on Oct. 9.
