Beecher playing in IESA State Volleyball Tournament

Beecher has advanced to the quarterfinals of the Illinois Elementary School Association Eighth Grade Girls Class 3A State Volleyball Tournament. It will play Auburn Junior High School at 3:30 p.m. today at Tolono Junior High. Winner advances to the semifinal at 5:15 p.m. today, also at Tolono.

Semifinal winners and losers will return to Tolono on Tuesday for the third-place match at 5:30 p.m. followed by the championship match at 6:45 p.m.

Beecher (19-6) advanced to the quarterfinals defeating Morris Shabbona 25-22, 25-8 in the sectionals.

Sunday 16-inch softball league looking for teams

UNIVERSITY PARK | University Park Parks and Recreation is looking for teams to participate in its Men's 16-Inch Sunday Softball League. Games will be played on the Riegel Farm and Olmsted Parks Softball Diamonds. League fee is $575 per team. The regular season will be at least 10 games followed by a double-elimination tournament.
