Vikings win two of three at Plainfield Invitational

Homewood Area Small Fry Basketball won two of three games at the Plainfield Invitational the weekend of Feb. 23-24.

The Vikings defeated Marquette Best 48-34 behind Trace Williams' 19 points on 8-of-11 shooting from the field, and then downed Chi-Town NBN 55-32 with Marcus Taylor leading the charge with 16 points.

The following Sunday, Marquette Best avenged its earlier loss while defeating the Vikings 41-37 despite 13 points and 11 rebounds from Taylor.

The Homewood Rookies defeated Glenbrook (32-17), East Chicago Heights (44-16) and Plainfield (50-29) to improve to 7-0 for the season.

 

CMPD holding Health and Fitness Expo March 23

CALUMET CITY | The Calumet Memorial Park District's  Health and Fitness Expo will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. March 23 at the Sandridge Community Center, 600 Ogelsby Ave. The free event features a blood pressure check, spine alignment details for a licensed chiropractor, personal health and cosmetic car, and information from medical and fitness vendors.

Peregrine Basketball Academy intro at PUC

Hunter's Education Safety Course at Cedar Creek

CEDAR LAKE | Lake County Parks is offering a Hunter's Education Safety Course from 6 to 9 p.m. March 15, and from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. March 16 at Cedar Creek Family Golf Center, 10483 W. 109th Ave. Participants must attend both session and pass a written test. The Indiana Department of Natural Resources requires all hunters born after 1986 to take the class. All hunters, regardless of age, need this class if they wish to hunt out of state or participate in state-sponsored hunts.

Those who pass the exam will receive a certified hunter's education card that is good for life. Children 12 and younger are required to have an adult present throughout the class.

CROWN POINT | The Crown Point Parks Department Adult Softball Leagues are taking reservations.
