Shooting turkeys with basketballs at CMPD

CALUMET CITY | Calumet Memorial Park District will hold a Family Turkey Shoot where kids ages 8-15 and a parent 21 or older compete in basketball drills from prizes, included frozen turkeys. Highland Parks to hold 38th-annual Pumpkin Plod

HIGHLAND | Highland Parks and Recreation will hold its 38th-annual Pumpkin Plod 10K run and 5K walk starting at 9 a.m. Nov. 28. The start and finish for both courses, respectively, will be Kennedy Avenue under the Ridge Road overpass and Lawndale Avenue adjacent to the Lincoln Center. Pre-registration fees for 10K runners are $20 when including a long sleeve race shirt and $15 without race shirt; for 5K walkers, $15 with shirt and $5 without. Fall indoor baseball hitting leagues at Diamond Kings

ST. JOHN | The Diamond Kings Indoor Hitting Leagues will be beginning the week of Nov. 4. Divisions include 9/10U, 11/12U, Junior High and High School. Teams will consist of four players. Games will be five innings long with each player getting five swings an inning in efforts to score points from targets placed in the batting cage. Individual stats will be kept for each player. Championship teams and MVPs will be placed on Diamond Kings' Wall of Fame.

Games are played once a week during a Monday-Saturday window. The leagues will help teams schedule games to accommodate other athletic and school activities. Deadline to register for the seven-week league is Friday. Cost is $340 per team or $85 per player.
