Homewood Small Fry to hold basketball camp

CHICAGO HEIGHTS | Homewood Area Small Fry Basketball will offer a grade school summer skills camp from noon to 2 p.m. July 15-18 at Marian Catholic High School. Cost is $60, which includes instruction and a T-shirt. The camp is not restricted to athletes meeting Small Fry age and height requirements. Ron Kittle to hold Retro Jersey Motorcycle Ride

COUNTRYSIDE | Ron Kittle's Retro Jersey Motorcycle Ride will take place Aug. 17 starting and ending at the Illinois Harley Davidson, 9950 Joliet Road. Registration is at 9 a.m.; first bike out is at 11 a.m.; last bike in is at 4 p.m. Registration is $55 per person on site and $50 before Aug. 10; VIP registration is $155 per person and $135 before Aug. 10. All registrants receive continental breakfast, ride T-shirt, sponsor giveaways, after ride party access, food and drink ticket, 100-mile ride map and free entry for one-week vacation. VIP registrants will receive '83 replica Kittle jersey, VIP group photo, a special gift and will ride with Kittle's group.

Homewood to hold cycling events on Sunday

HOMEWOOD | The Village of Homewood will hold "Bike the Dixie" and the "Downtown Homewood Classic" Sunday.

Bike the Dixie, a free event which will run from 8 to 11 a.m., is a non-competitive five-mile loop through the neighborhoods. The Homewood Classic, which will run from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., is a competitive race drawing professional and amateur cyclists from around the midwest.

Trek Bicycle Store to hold Tire Fry bike rides

SCHERERVILLE | Trek Bicycle Store of Schererville will be putting on a pair of "Trek Tire Fry" bike rides in July. They will consist of a metric century (62 miles) on July 13 and a full century (100 miles) on July 14 that will utilize roads in Northwest Indiana and Northeast Illinois. The rides will have support vehicles on course as well as food and support stops along the routes. An after-ride party including food, water, music and beer will be included.

Lansing Old Timers holding baseball tournament

LANSING | The Lansing Old Timers will host a baseball tournament for ages 8U, 9U and 11U from July 18 to July 23 at the Lansing Old Timers Complex, 16500 Chicago Ave. In-house all-star teams and part-time travel teams (less than 25 games together) are eligible -- no metro or full-time travel teams. Team fee is $425.

The format will consist of three-game pool play plus championship. Basic Little League rules for Pee Wee, Minors and Major levels will be employed. Teams may have a maximum of 15 players. Birth certificates and proof of insurance required.
