Calumet Memorial Park District holding Pitch, Hit and Run

CALUMET CITY | The Calumet Memorial Park District will host a free Major League Baseball Pitch, Hit and Run for ages 7-14 at 10 a.m. Saturday at Downey Park, located at he Stewart and Jeffery avenues. The individual pitching, hitting and running champions, as well as the all-around champions in each age and gender group will be awarded and advance to the sectional level of competition.

Lansing Swim Organization holding tryouts

LANSING | The Lansing Swim Organization, a competitive age-group team for ages 5-18, will hold tryouts from 6 to 8 p.m. April 17 and 18 at T.F. South High School, 186th Street and Burnham Avenue. A two-week trail period will follow -- April 22, 24, 25, 29 and May 1 and 2. Cost is $75.

Bowling association seeks hall of fame nominations

The Greater Calumet Area USBC is looking for men and women have had an impact on the local bowling community for its hall of fame. Nominees should be at least 45 years old and have been sanctioned league bowlers in GCA centers for at least 10 years. Nomination deadline is June 1. NWI All-Star Basketball Classic at Purdue Calumet

Bowling association to hold scholarship golf outing

HIGHLAND | The Greater Calumet Area USBC will host its seventh-annual golf outing July 27 at Wicker Memorial Park. Entry is $80 per person. Golfers who pay in full by May 1 will receive a $5 discount. Reservation deadline is July 17. Proceeds will go toward the association's annual scholarship for graduating high school senior boys and girls.

LANSING | The 2013 Lansing Redbirds travel baseball program is hosting tournaments for 13U and 15U travel teams at the Lansing Old Timers Sports Complex, 16700 Chicago Ave. The 13U tournament will be held from May 16-19 -- cost is $375 with a three-game guarantee. The 15U tournament will be held from July 11-14 -- cost is $425 with a three-game guarantee.
