Women's volleyball league starting at CMPD

CALUMET | The Calument Memorial Park District's Women's 4-on-4 Volleyball League will run from June 9 to mid-August. Games will played on Mondays starting at 6:45 p.m. Playoffs will follow the regular season. The fee is $250 per team. Registration is being taken at the Sandridge Community Center, 600 Oglesby Ave.

Hershey's Track and Field local competition May 21

CALUMET CITY | The Calumet Memorial Park District's local competition of the Hershey's Track and Field event will be held May 21 at the T.F. North High School Wilbur Petree Field, 755 Pulaski Road. The free national program introduces kids aged 9 to 14 to physical fitness through basic track and field events. SCHERERVILLE | Tri Town Raiders Pop Warner is holding football, cheer and dance fall sign-ups at Mike's Sporting Goods, 1650 U.S. 41 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday. The league is for boys and girls aged 5 to 14 from Dyer, Schererville, St. John, Crown Point and Illinois.

There is a weight schematic in place for football players starting at 35 pounds. Girls aged 8 or older may join either a competitive cheer squad or a non-competitive cheer squad. Copy of birth certificate is required for new members at sign-ups. Football players need to be present to be fitted for football equipment.

League asks that the method of payment for the fall program be by a credit or debit card.
