Eastsiders win another 16-inch softball title in thriller
CHICAGO | The Eastsiders, who were inducted in the Chicago 16-Inch Softball Hall of Fame last year, won another Mann Park League title -- this one may be among the most dramatic.
After a sub-par regular season where they finished second, the Eastsiders advanced to the postseason playoff final round against regular season champions, Club 81.
The Eastsiders won the first game of the best-of-three series, 18-3, but were trailing 11-5 going into their last at-bats in the bottom of the seventh of the second game. The Eastsiders rallied for seven runs to win the championship in a 12-11 final.
Sauk Village offering youth coed basketball
SAUK VILLAGE | Sauk Village Parks and Recreation will hold youth coed basketball registration at the Community Center from 4:30 to 7 p.m. Sept. 9 and Sept. 12, from 4 to 7 p.m. Sept. 13 and from 4:30 to 7 p.m. Sept. 14. Registration will be $55 per player. Each player will receive 30 candy bars to sell. Money received will be for the player's family to keep, possibly reducing the registration cost to $25.
The league is for ages 7-14 who are Sauk Village residents. Each player will receive a basketball uniform. Each game will have qualified referees, and each team will be coached by someone 21 years old or older. At the end of the season, there will be a banquet, and each player will receive a plaque or trophy.

Lansing Swim Organization holding lessons, tryouts
