Blackbirds win junior hockey season opener
The Illiana Blackbirds Tier III Junior Hockey Team defeated the Wisconsin Rampage, 7-5, on Sept. 7 in Pleasant Prairie, Wis., to win their season opener.
Nathan Aloisio had three goals and an assist, Chad Miller had four assists and a goal, and Brandon Vulpitta was the winning goalie for Illiana.
Other Blackbirds contributing included Jakob Smith (three assists, goal), Curtis Artuso (two assists), Austin Ahlers (goal), Colin O'Connor (goal), and Anthony Didiana, Joe Keenan and Adamson Thoma, who each had an assist.
T.F. South cheerleaders holding Spirit Clinic
LANSING | The T.F. South varsity cheerleading squad will host a Spirit Clinic from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Oct. 20 for girls in grades K-8. Sauk Village offering youth coed basketball
SAUK VILLAGE | Sauk Village Parks and Recreation will hold youth coed basketball registration at the Community Center from 4:30 to 7 p.m. today. Registration will be $55 per player. Each player will receive 30 candy bars to sell. Money received will be for the player's family to keep, possibly reducing the registration cost to $25.
The league is for ages 7-14 who are Sauk Village residents. Each player will receive a basketball uniform. Each game will have qualified referees, and each team will be coached by someone 21 years old or older. At the end of the season, there will be a banquet, and each player will receive a plaque or trophy.
