MUNSTER | The Munster Seahorses, like most swim clubs, don't take summer vacations. Rather, they take a short vacation before the summer season.
"For us, it's usually about a month," Munster Swim Club coach Matt Lee said about the break between the winter "short-course" season and the summer "long-course" season, which began this week.
At the Indiana Age-Group Swimming Championships March 15-17 at the IUPUI Natatorium in Indianapolis, Munster placed 12th as a team.
The club's girls 11-12 200-yard freestyle relay team of Libby Jones, Brisa Bohling, Audrey Beck and Miranda Adams placed third; and its boys 11-12 200 medley relay team of Kyle Adams, Holden Raffin, Tony Bohling and Alec Samardzich placed fifth.
"Our club is in a rebuilding stage right now," Lee said. "We had a lot of swimmers record personal-best times (at state).
"I expect we'll do even better in the summer. We'll have a good number of kids at the top of their age groups."
Others MSC members who qualified to participate at Age Group Swimming Championships included Grant Afman, Joey Baeza, Isabella Blackford, Samantha Buffano, Deven Burse, Eliana Candelaria, Olivia Candelaria, Clarisa Cortez, Matt Dempsey, Mike Dempsey, Ben Dodge, Alexis Flores, Kay Foley, Elizabeth Hanas, Katie Hemingway, Leah John, Tommy Jones, Luke Knaley, Savannah Kunas, Morgan Lagestee, Karl Larson, Will McComis, Ella McComis, Bridey McGinty, Alyssa Nahnsen, Vinny Niaves, Kenny Reed, Ben Rasamimari, Scott Robbins, Justin Singh, Jimmy Svolos, Maggie Vaikus, Nicole Wakefield, Tiffany Wang, Karina Weingard, Megan Wimmer, Jack Wulf and Fenry Zhou.
