Dudek wins Senior Singles bowling title
GRIFFITH | John Dudek, who was recently inducted into the Greater Calumet Area USBC Hall of Fame, claimed the A Division title in the eighth-annual Senior Singles Bowling Tournament held over the past month at Set 'Em Up Lanes.
Dudek, 59, of Orland Park, rolled a 716 actual series (737 with handicap), besting Jim Rutherford and Keith Best, who tied for second with overall scores of 714.
Chuck Marovich, of Griffith, won the B Division title with an overall score of 726, finishing well ahead of runner-up Carol Vargo (644) and Jeff Barnes (641).
Jerry Sabin, of Griffith, won the C Division with an overall score of 716 ahead of Ken Pogach (710) and Greg Johns (698).
William Higgins, of Lynwood, claimed the D Division title (660 series) ahead of Marshall Surratt (649) and Andy Hoke (623).

HAMMOND | A national Babe Ruth Baseball Umpire/Coaches Clinic will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. March 15 at the Hammond Civic Center. An open-book national certification test will be given to first-time umpires. Returning umpires can become recertified, but do not have to take the test.

Greater Calumet Area bowling championships at Stardust III
DYER | The Greater Calumet Area USBC bowling championship tournament will run three straight Sundays, Feb. 9, 16 and 23, at Stardust III, 1313 Sheffield Ave. The event includes Singles and Doubles, which start at 9 a.m.; and Team, which starts at 1 p.m.
Bowlers may chose to bowl in the pins over average division or the actual division. Separate events are offered for men and women. Cost of each event is $30. Participants may chose to bowl in the other division by paying an extra $20 per event.
Based on 35 entries, Team event will pay out $1,100 for both divisions; based on 70 entries, Doubles will pay out $550 for both divisions while Singles will pay out $275 for both divisions.

SOUTH HOLLAND | The South Suburban College Baseball Program and head coach Steve Ruzich will be conducting adult-child baseball camps, Feb. 14-23 for boys and girls ages 6-14. The camps will feature sessions for pitching, catching, hitting and fielding while providing adults and kids the opportunity to improve their knowledge of baseball skills and techniques.
