Championship teams to be honored at HOF dinner

HAMMOND | The 50th and 75th anniversaries of the Hammond High's 1962 and 1937 football and wrestling state championship squads will be recognized during the 26th annual Hammond Sports Hall of Fame induction dinner, March 13 at the Hammond Civic Center. Tables of seats have been reserved for the Hammond High championship teams.

To reserve/purchase seats fro $20, squad members are invited to contact the Hammond Parks and Recreation Office at the Civic Center at (219) 853-6378 and ask for Michelle or LeAnne.

Festivities begin at 5 p.m. with a social time. Dinner is at 6:30 p.m., followed by the program at 7:30 p.m.

Positions open for Sunday Men's Softball League

CEDAR LAKE | The Lemon Lake Men's Softball League has positions open for its Sunday Men's League. The fee is $480 per team, plus $5 daily parkign for each car. Checks should be made payable to Lemon Lake Softball.

CROWN POINT | The Crown Point Parks Department Adult Softball Leagues are reserving positions for the 2012 season. The Men's League will play on Tuesdays (E Division), Wednesdays (C Division) and Thursdays (D Division). Cost is $575 per team. The Coed League will play on Sunday nights. Cost is $460 per team. The Women's League will play on Monday nights. Cost is $460 per team.

Deadline to register for all leagues is March 15. Teams must put down a $100 deposit to secure a position. Fees must be paid in full by May 1.

Hunter's Education Safety Course at Cedar Creek

CEDAR LAKE | The Lake County Parks Hunter's Education Safety Course will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. March 16 and from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. March 17 at Cedar Creek Family Golf Center, 10483 W. 109th Ave. The Indiana Department of Natural Resourses requires all hunters born after 1986 to take the class. Big League Baseball Camp at Fuel Fitness

CROWN POINT | Fuel Fitness Crown Point, located at 1516 N. Main St., will be offering a Big League Baseball Camp, which will be held every Sunday from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The recommended ages for this camp are from 12 to 22.

The camp will focus on baseball fundamentals such as stretching, throwing, running, infield work, outfield work, hitting, bunting, pitching and catching. Leading the camp will be former minor league player and manager Bill Bryk Sr., former professional infielder and Chicago Cubs draft pick Bobby Morris, and independent league pitching coach Billy Bryk Jr.
