Munster Mustangs holding youth football camp

MUNSTER | The Munster Mustang football program will host a camp for boys entering grades 3-7 from 1 to 3 p.m. July 15-18 at the Munster High School football fields. The fee for the camp is $50, which includes a camp T-shirt. The camp will be a non-contact and will focus on skills and fundamentals. Advance registration is required. Marvin Rea Basketball Camp a Bowman Academy

GARY | The Marvin Rea Basketball Camp will be held at Bowman Academy, 3401 W. 5th Avenue, Monday through Thursday, July 15-18 and July 22-25. Times will be from 10 a.m. to noon for ages 6-12, and from noon to 2 p.m. for ages 13-17. Cost of the camp is $60 and players may register at the door.

Trek Bicycle Store to hold Tire Fry bike rides

SCHERERVILLE | Trek Bicycle Store of Schererville will be putting on a pair of "Trek Tire Fry" bike rides in July. They will consist of a metric century (62 miles) on July 13 and a full century (100 miles) on July 14that will utilize roads in Northwest Indiana and Northeast Illinois. The rides will have support vehicles on course as well as food and support stops along the routes. An after-ride party including food, water, music and beer will be included.

Ron Kittle to hold Retro Jersey Motorcycle Ride

COUNTRYSIDE | Ron Kittle's Retro Jersey Motorcycle Ride will take place Aug. 17 starting and ending at the Illinois Harley Davidson, 9950 Joliet Road. Registration is at 9 a.m.; first bike out is at 11 a.m.; last bike in is at 4 p.m. Registration is $55 per person on site and $50 before Aug. 10; VIP registration is $155 per person and $135 before Aug. 10. All registrants receive continental breakfast, ride T-shirt, sponsor giveaways, after ride party access, food and drink ticket, 100-mile ride map and free entry for one-week vacation. VIP registrants will receive '83 replica Kittle jersey, VIP group photo, a special gift and will ride with Kittle's group.

HOMEWOOD | The Village of Homewood will hold "Bike the Dixie" and the "Downtown Homewood Classic" Sunday.

Bike the Dixie, a free event which will run from 8 to 11 a.m., is a non-competitive five-mile loop through the neighborhoods. The Homewood Classic, which will run from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., is a competitive race drawing professional and amateur cyclists from around the midwest.

Finn Passing Academy at Andrean

MERRILLVILLE | The fourth annual Finn Passing Academy, conducted by former Andrean quarterbacks Billy, Bobby and Tommy Finn, will be held July 15-17 at Andrean High School, 5959 Broadway.

The academy, open to students entering grades 5-9 in August, runs daily from 9 a.m. to noon. It will focus on the essentials needed to run a successful passing game, as well as the leadership skills that great quarterbacks possess, qualities all three of the Finns were known for during their careers.

Participants are asked to wear shorts or sweats, a t-shirt and football shoes. They should also bring a mouthpiece, water bottle and tennis shoes in case the weather forces a move indoors. Scheduled guest speakers include Andrean coach Phil Mason, Lake Central coach Brett St. Germain and Portage coach Wally McCormack.
