Wright leads Tiger Sharks at Indiana State Championships

Emma Wright scored 40 of the Hobart Tiger Sharks 62 points at the Indiana Age Group Long Course Swimming Championships held July 26-28 in Indianapolis.

Competing in the 10-and-under girls division, Emma finished in sixth place in the 200 freestyle, eighth place in the 100 backstroke, ninth in the 100 free, 11th in the 50 free, 16th in the 50 butterfly and 25th in the 50 backstroke.

Emma later represented Team Indiana at the Central Zone 14-and-under Championships held last weekend in Geneva, Ohio.

 

Highland Soccer Club holding Soccer Palooza

HIGHLAND | The Highland Soccer Club will hold its annual Soccer Palooza form special needs kids ages 4-19 from noon to 3 p.m. Sunday at Meadows Park, 9400 Southmoor Ave. The free event is open to kids from all areas, not Highland residents. NWI All Star Game and home run derby at SteelYard

GARY | The NWI National Adult Baseball Association will hold its annual home run derby and all-star game Saturday at the U.S. SteelYard. All league members are eligible to participate int he derby which starts at 1 p.m. Cost is $10 to enter.

The all star game is at 4 p.m. Admission is free. No outside food or drink will be allowed in the park. Concession stands will be open.
