Football Hall of Fame Banquet Sunday

The Indiana Region One Football Hall of Fame Banquet will be held Sunday at Avalon Banquet Center. Social hour will begin at 5 p.m., with the introduction of region all-stars and National Football Foundation scholars at 6, dinner at 6:15 and the induction program at 7. Honorees are Craig Buford, Mark Deal and Mike Deal of Hobart, Randy Beisler of Wirt, John Boyajian of Hammond and Gerald Irons of Roosevelt. Official John Goss will receive a certificate of merit. MLB Pitch, Hit and Run event Sunday

Luna MMA Team YMCA fighters at Midwest Series

Luna MMA Team YMCA, based out of the Duneland YMCA, will have three of its fighters compete at the Midwest Fight Series at 7 p.m. Friday at the 8 Seconds Saloon, 111 North Lynhurst Drive, Indianapolis.

Those representing Luna include William Barbahen, who will fight Jordan Humphries at 145 pounds; Danny Konarski, who will fight Anthony Chavez at 170 pounds, and Shane Jett, who will fight Justin Hackett at 185 pounds.

Jason Hawkins Basketball Camp at Bishop Noll

GARY | Indiana Northwest and the Office of Athletics will host their fourth annual Redhawks Summer Basketball Camp for boys and girls aged 6 to 13. Viking Football Camps scheduled

VALPARAISO | The 36th annual Viking Football Camps have been scheduled. All camps cost $40. The camp for students in eighth grade will be conducted from 5 to 6:30 p.m. May 20, 21, 22 and 28. Registration ends May 13. All campers will receive a T-shirt.  The camp for students in grades six and seven who plan to play football next season is set for 1 to 2:30 p.m. July 8 to 11. Registration ends June 28. The elementary campers will also be given a certificate of participation. Forms are available all Valparaiso elementary and middle schools. Sixth annual Kent's Run May 25

BOONE GROVE | The sixth annual Kent's Run 5K will begin at 8 a.m. May 25 at Boone Grove Middle School, 325 W. 500 S. Registration is $25 by May 16, $30 between May 17 and 24 and $35 on race day. The race was founded to honor Kent Ribordy, a Boone Grove High School student who died from leukemia in 2007. Leon's Triathlon slated for June 2

HAMMOND | Northwest Indiana will host the 30th anniversary of Leon’s Triathlon on June 2.

Leon’s Triathlon is an Olympic distance race beginning and ending at Wolf Lake. It includes a .9-mile swim, 24.6-mile bike and a 6.2-mile run. Participants can register through Sunday for $155, or register late up until race day for $165. The triathlon will also offer team registration and relay registration.

Valparaiso University offers summer basketball camps

VALPARAISO | Valparaiso University's men's and women's basketball teams will host youth camps this summer.

The women's team will run a four-day camp from 9 a.m. to noon June 10 through 13 for girls entering grades three through eight. The cost is $90. An overnight elite camp for incoming high school students will run June 18 and 19. The cost is $100. A two-day team shootout camp will run June 20 and 21 for high school and junior varsity squads. The cost is $350 for one day, $500 for two days.

The men's team will run a mini-camp for children aged 5 to 7 from 9 a.m. to noon June 24 to 27. The cost is $115. The Valpo Basketball School will run from 9 a.m. to noon June 24 through 27 and is for players aged 8 to 14. The cost is $165. The Valpo Basketball Academy is for players aged 8 to 14 and will run from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. July 29 through Aug. 2. The cost is $295.

Valparaiso University offers summer tennis camps

VALPARAISO | Valparaiso University tennis camps will begin June 10 and run Monday through Thursday for five weeks at the Valpo Tennis Complex.
