Portage YMCA adds group exercise classes

Popcorn Panic, Lit’l Kernel Puff races Sept. 7

VALPARAISO | The 35th annual Popcorn Panic will start at 7:30 a.m. Sept. 7 at Central Park Plaza. Runners and walkers can register for the 5-mile run or 5K walk for $35. The Lit’l Kernel Puff race, for youth aged 2 to 9 (as of Sept. 7), will be at 8:45 a.m. Sept. 7 at the corner of Washington and Lincolnway. Everyone who runs receives a participation ribbon. VU to hold softball camps

VALPARAISO | The Valparaiso University softball program will hold one individual and two team camps.

The fall experience camp, open to athletes in grades nine to 12, will be Sept. 15 on campus. It is designed to allow participants to experience a day in the life of a Valpo softball player. Campers will get a T-shirt and lunch, and will have the opportunity to play two games. Cost is $130.

The 18-and-under/16U and 14U/12U team camps will be held at Imagination Glen Park in Portage on Sept. 7 and 8 and Oct. 19 and 20, respectively. Teams are guaranteed at least four games. A college coach or player will be available to help instruct during two of each team's games, while college coaches will be invited to the 18U/16U camp. The cost of each of the team camps is $475 per team.
