Indiana Dawgz seek post players

LIBERTY TOWNSHIP | The Indiana Dawgz are looking for post players for their 14-and-under AAU boys basketball team. Open tryouts will be held from 6 to 7 p.m. today at The Courts of NWI.


Cheer practices start Tuesday at Horizon

VALPARAISO | Registration is under way for Horizon Gymnastics and Cheer Academy's All-Star Cheer season. Practices start today. They will also be held on Thursdays and Fridays throughout the spring.

Registration for the late spring session of classes are available. Classes will run April 8 through June 1. Children aged 18 months to 18 years old are eligible. Open gym runs from 7:30 to 9 p.m. Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. A session for preschool children runs from 10:45 a.m. to noon Wednesdays. Andrean to host softball clinic Saturday

MERRILLVILLE | Andrean softball coach Brooke Baker and her team will host the Lady Niners Spring Softball Clinic for non-high school players Saturday at the high school. Pitching lessons offered at Bases Loaded

VALPARAISO | Kassey Reynolds Jones is offering Perfect Pitch Softball pitching lessons at Bases Loaded, 884 North 100 West. The clinic will focus on fundamentals and safe mechanics. Leon's Triathlon slated for June 2

HAMMOND | Northwest Indiana will host the 30th anniversary of Leon’s Triathlon on June 2.

Leon’s Triathlon is an Olympic distance race beginning and ending at Wolf Lake. It includes a .9-mile swim, 24.6-mile bike and a 6.2-mile run. Participants can register through May 5 for $155, or register late up until race day for $165. The triathlon will also offer team registration and relay registration.

Valpo Jr. Triathlon June 15

VALPARAISO | The Valparaiso Jr. Triathlon will take place at 9 a.m. June 15 at Valparaiso High School. Children aged 6 to 14 are eligible. VALPARAISO | The Valparaiso University women's volleyball team will host two summer camps. The annual summer camp will run July 8 to 11 at the Athletics-Recreation Center. The camp is open to children in grades three to 12. Cost is $420 for overnight campers, $335 for commuters.

The program will also be part of a combination volleyball/soccer camp from Aug. 5 to 7. The camp is open for children in grades kindergarten through eight.
