Valpo volleyball camp next week

VALPARAISO | The Valparaiso Vikings Volleyball Camp will run Monday through Thursday at the high school fieldhouse. Those entering kindergarten through fourth grade will meet from 11 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. Grades five to eight will meet from 12:15 to 1:30 p.m. Cost is $40. Softball pitching clinic Sunday

Viking Baseball Camp next week

VALPARAISO | The fourth annual Viking Baseball Camp for students currently in grades one to eight will be held Monday through Wednesday at the Valparaiso High School field. Sign-ups available for Valpo gymnastics classes

PORTAGE | Sign-ups for the Portage Park Department's youth flag football program will run through Friday at the park office in Woodland Park. The league is open to children aged 6 to 14. Summer Brickie Tennis Academy to offer programs

HOBART | The Summer Brickie Tennis Academy will hold a variety of programs at the Hobart High School tennis facility, 2211 E. 10th St.

Day camps will include three-day sessions Monday through Thursday, June 16 to 19 and June 23 to 26. Players aged 4 to 6 will meet from 9 to 9:45 a.m. (cost $110 per session), while players aged 7 to 10 will meet from 10 to 11 a.m. (cost $120 per session).

Brickie Youth Team Tennis will run from July 1 to Aug. 7. Level I (players aged 4 to 6) will run from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays; Level II (7 to 11) will run from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Cost is $55 for one night a week, $95 for two nights a week. Cost includes team uniform, one-year USTA membership and subscription to Bounce or SMASH magazine.

The Fort Wayne United West Heat U16 boys soccer team won the Indiana State Cup Championship last weekend -- the team's third state title in four years -- and will compete in a regional championship June 21 in Dayton, Ohio. The club includes players from Chesterton, Crown Point, LaPorte, Munster, Schererville, South Bend and Valparaiso.

NWI Region Bowl-A-Thon Friday at Stardust II

MERRILLVILLE | The Junior Achievement NWI Region Bowl-A-Thon will be held from 6:30 to 9 p.m. Friday at Stardust Bowl II. Teams will consist of five bowlers. Tennis programs starting at Match Point, Andrean

A variety of summer tennis programs will be held at Match Point Tennis Club, 1111 Reyome Drive, Griffith, and Andrean High School, 5959 Broadway, Merrillville.

Ten-and-Under Tennis, which will use age-appropriate equipment, will be held on Tuesdays (June 17, 24, July 8, 15 22, 29, Aug. 5 and 12) from 4 to 5 p.m. at Match Point, and on Fridays (Friday, June 20 27, July 11, 18, 25, Aug. 1 and 18) from 4 to 5 p.m. at Andrean. Cost for each eight-meeting program is $75.

USTA Jr. Team Tennis will run from Monday through July 17 at Match Point Tennis Club. There will be coed team matches, with events in boys singles and doubles, girls singles and doubles, and mixed doubles. All matches will be played at Match Point at 4 p.m. on Thursdays. Team practices and instruction will be at 4 p.m. on Mondays. Cost is $125 per player. Current USTA membership is required.

The USTA Jr. Team Tennis Northwest Indiana Traveling League, where coed teams play home and away matches in Lake and Porter counties, will start Tuesday. Cost is $40.

Junior Tennis Camps will be held from 9 a.m. to noon Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays at Match Point, and from 9 a.m. to noon Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays at Andrean.

Start/Restart, an instructional program for adults who want to play tennis for the first time or to get back in the game, will be held Wednesdays from 6 to 8 p.m. at Match Point starting July 16. Cost for six meetings is $75 per player.

Mylan World Team Tennis, a coed recreational league for adults, will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Mondays at Match Point starting June 23. Cost is $85 per player.
