Trojan Frozen Football skills camp in March

CHESTERTON | The Chesterton High School football coaching staff and players will host the Trojan Frozen Football Youth Skills Camp at CHS. Campers will receive six hours of instruction. Camp dates are March 2, 9 and 16. Times are from 12:30 to 2 p.m. for grades one to three, and from 2 to 3:30 p.m. for grades four to six. Play 4 Kay event Saturday at VU

VALPARAISO | A local Play 4 Kay Event will take place at 7:05 p.m. Saturday during the women's basketball game between Valparaiso and Oakland. The Crusaders will celebrate cancer survivors as part of their fifth annual Pink Zone game. A father-daughter special will be offered. Each daughter that attends the game with her father will receive a replica jersey and team-autographed photo. Cost is $10 for the father-daughter pair and $4 for each additional daughter. Oak Ridge Archery Club opens Saturday

WHEATFIELD | The Oak Ridge Archery Club's grand opening will take place from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday at a new indoor range facility. CEDAR LAKE | Concussions: The 411 will take place at 6:15 p.m. Monday at Hanover Central High School's Auditorium. The seminar will outline diagnoses, symptoms and treatment options for concussions.

Valpo Parks sports programs available

VALPARAISO | The Valparaiso Parks and Recreation Department is offering several sports programs.

Sign-ups for adult summer softball, including coed, are available. Men's and women's leagues are $590 per team, plus $12 for each non-resident player. Coed price is $475 plus the non-resident player fee. Rosters are due March 26. Also, any adult team involved in the summer league can participate in a new Spring Swing Tournament. The tourney will take place April 26 and 27. Cost is $100 per team. Registration deadline is March 26.

Sign-ups for adult coed soccer will run through April 16. Cost is $750 plus $12 per non-resident player. Individual players can sign up for $75, $87 for non-residents.

March Mayhem, a wiffle ball tournament, will take place March 9 and 16. The tourney is open to high-school and college-aged players. Captain's meeting and tourney draw will take place at 4 p.m. March 4. Cost is $50 per team. The registration deadline is Feb. 26.

An adult wiffle ball tourney will take place the weekend of June 7. Men's, women's and coed events will take place. Cost is $50 per team. The registration deadline is May 28.

A spring soccer youth coed league will run from early April through mid-May. Children aged 3 to 12 are eligible. Games will be played Saturdays. The cost is $47, $59 for non-residents. Registration deadline is Feb. 28.

Registration for youth softball and baseball leagues are underway. Registration deadlines run March 1 through May 16.
