Youth Sports Expo this weekend at Porter County Center
VALPARAISO | The Porter County Expo Center, 215 E. Division Road, will host the Northwest Indiana Youth Sports Expo from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. today and from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday. Businesses and organizations such as the YMCA, Blythe's Sporting Goods, Accelerated Rehabilitation Centers and Cinemagic Sports Line will be on hand with information on their businesses and products. There will be seminars, including one featuring Dr. Anthony Levenda from Lakeshore Bone and Joint speaking on knee injuries and common over-use sports injuries. There will be demonstrations and food vendors. Admission is $3 for adults and $1 for children aged 5 to 12. Children under 5 get in free.
Illiana Blackbirds final home games this weekend

Hunter's Education Safety Course at Cedar Creek
CEDAR LAKE | Lake County Parks is offering a Hunter's Education Safety Course from 6 to 9 p.m. March 15, and from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. March 16 at Cedar Creek Family Golf Center, 10483 W. 109th Ave. Participants must attend both session and pass a written test. The Indiana Department of Natural Resources requires all hunters born after 1986 to take the class. All hunters, regardless of age, need this class if they wish to hunt out of state or participate in state-sponsored hunts. Those who pass the exam will receive a certified hunter's education card that is good for life. Children 12 and younger are required to have an adult present at the class.
