2013 Northwest Indiana Heart Walks

More than 1,000 Northwest Indiana residents are expected to participate in the two 2013 Northwest Indiana Heart Walks and raise more than $500,000 for the American Heart Association.

The first walk is scheduled for 9 a.m. to noon Sept. 7 at the Lake County Fairgrounds in Crown Point, while the second will take place from 9 a.m. to noon on Sept. 28 at the Coffee Creek Center in Chesterton.

Indiana Chiefs holding long toss program and instruction

HAMMOND | The Indiana Chiefs of Hammond will be offering a long toss program with baseball instruction at Riverside Park in Hammond. The program will be offered three days a week -- from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays, and from 1 to 3 p.m. Sundays. The Tuesday and Thursday sessions will focus strictly on the long toss program. On Sundays, in addition to the long toss program, there will also be an instruction covering pitching, position play, hitting, bunting and base running.
