Babe Ruth umpire clinic at Hammond Civic Center
HAMMOND | A National Babe Ruth Baseball umpire/coaches clinc will be held at the Hammond Civic Center from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. today. Registration will be at 8 a.m. All youth league umpires and coaches, and anyone interested in becoming an umpire with national certification, are encouraged to attend. An open-book National Certification test will be given to first-time umpires. Returning umpires may become recertified, but do not have to take the test. Cost of the clinic is $25, which includes lunch, plus $40 to take the certification test or to recertify.

Fleet Feet Sports offering youth running training
SCHERERVILLE | Fleet Feet Sports is offering a Youth No Boundaries 5K running program for boys and girls ages 8-13. The program will focus on teaching the children the fundamentals of running, along with providing the training needed to complete a 5K (3.1 miles) run on June 22 at the Firecracker 5K in Chesterton.
