Umpire/coaches clinic today at Hammond Civic Center
HAMMOND | A national Babe Ruth Baseball Umpire/Coaches Clinic will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the Hammond Civic Center. Registration will start at 8 a.m. All youth league umpires and coaches, and anyone interested in becoming an umpire with national certification, are encouraged to attend. An open-book national certification test will be given to first-time umpires. Returning umpires can become recertified, but do not have to take the test.

Crown Point Swim Club holding new swimmer evaluations
CROWN POINT | The Crown Point Swim Club is holding new swimmer evaluations from 5:45 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday at the Crown Point High School pool. Swimmers should come prepared for a brief in-water evaluation with a suit, towel and goggles (if needed). Swimmers need to be able to complete one length of the pool (25 yards) without assistance and be at least 5 years old. Parents need to bring a copy of the swimmer's birth certificate for proof of age for Indiana Swimming.

Wheelchair basketball tourney at Broadway Armory
The Chicago Park District and the Chicago Wheelchair Bulls are putting together a National Wheelchair Basketball Association Championship Division competition, The Neal R. Radbel Tournament, to take place March 22 and 23 at Broadway Armory Park, 5917 N. Broadway St., Chicago.
