Notre Dame Club to hold annual Sports Night

SCHERERVILLE | Notre Dame Club of Northwest Indiana will hold its annual Sports Night, featuring ND assistant defensive coordinator Kerry Cooks, June 13 at Villa Cesare, 900 Eagle Ridge Drive. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. Buffet dinner will be served at 6:15 p.m. Cash bar and raffles will be included. Tickets are $30 for adults and $12 for kids ages 4-11. Tickets may be purchased at the door. Retired NBA players to hold golf outing at Lost Marsh

HAMMOND | The National Basketball Retired Players Association Chicagoland Chapter will be hosting its inaugural golf outing June 8 at Lost Marsh Golf Course. The event, which is sponsored by Majestic Star Casino, will benefit Haven House of Hammond and 826CHI. Each golfer will be grouped with a sport celebrity — celebrities will include former Chicago Bulls players and members from the 1985 Chicago Bears team.

Tickets are $250 per golfer or $1,000 per foursome. Continental breakfast, lunch on the course and a cocktail hour/awards banquet are included. Summer lacrosse clinics at Crown Point Sportsplex

CROWN POINT | Crown Point Parks and True Lacrosse are hosting are hosting week-long camps for kids and teens interested in learning lacrosse at the Crown Point Sportsplex, 1313 E. North St.

Session I is June 11-14. Times are from 3 to 5 p.m. for grades 3-5, and from 5 to 7 p.m. for grades 6-8. Session II is July 9-12. Times are from 10 a.m. to noon for grades 3-5, and from 1 to 3 p.m. for grades 6-8.

Indiana Raiders to add minor league softball team

The Indiana Raiders have added a UCBL women's fast pitch softball team to their organization. This minor league team will be attached to the professional fast pitch team, the Akron Racers, and will give college and "at large" athletes to showcase their talents to pro teams while playing against quality USSSA competition under NCAA rules and regulations during a short summer season.

Triple Crown Hurricanes seek road games, players

The Triple Crown Hurricanes 13U baseball team is looking for week night road games (54/80) and is willing to split costs.

The team is also looking for two or three players for the remainder of the season. A catcher is particularly sought. The Hurricanes schedule includes a qualified trip to the BPA World Series in Owensboro, Ky.

AAU State Track and Field Meet at Wheeler HS

VALPARAISO | The Hammond Track Club with Indiana Dunes Tourism will host a two-day AAU 2012 District Qualifier State Track and Field Meet, June 16 and 17 at Wheeler High School. The Saturday (June 16) competition is for age groups 8-and-under through 12. The Sunday (June 17) competition is for age groups 13 through 18. Both days will start at 8 a.m.

The top 16 finishers in each age group event and all relay teams qualify for the 2012 Area 14 National Qualifier Meet, June 28-July1 in Normal, Ill. The top five finishers in each age group event and top four relay teams qualify for the AAU Junior Olympics National Championships, July 28-Aug. 4 in Houston, Tex.

Greater Calumet Area USBC seeks hall of fame nominations

HIGHLAND | The Greater Calumet Area United States Bowling Congress is seeking nominations for its inaugural Hall of Fame. The organization, which represents league bowlers from centers in Dyer, Griffith, Highland, Hammond, Calumet City, Lansing and Lynwood, has merged the Calumet USBC men's and women's organizations and their respective halls of fame. Those inducted in 2012 will be the first class of the merged group.

Nominees should be at least 45 years old and have been sanctioned league bowlers in GCA centers for at least 10 years.
