Tri Town Pop Warner holding fall sign-ups

SCHERERVILLE | Tri Town Raiders Pop Warner is holding football, cheer and dance fall sign-ups at the Dyer/Schererville public library from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. today. The league is for boys and girls aged 5 to 14 from Dyer, Schererville, St. John, Crown Point and Illinois.

There is a weight schematic in place for football players starting at 35 pounds. Girls aged 8 or older may join either a competitive cheer squad or a non-competitive cheer squad. Copy of birth certificate is required for new members at sign-ups. Football players need to be present to be fitted for football equipment.

National Adult Baseball Association holding opening day

HOBART | The Northwest Indian National Adult Baseball Association will hold its 2014 opening day ceremonies at 4:30 p.m. today at the Hobart Little League Complex, 2301 W. Old Ridge Road. Babe Ruth Baseball umpire/coaches clinic May 18

CROWN POINT | A final National Babe Ruth Baseball umpire/coaches clinic will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. May 18 in the dome of the Crown Point Family Fun Center, 1301 Merrillville Road. Registration will start at 8 a.m. All youth league umpires and coaches, and anyone interested in becoming an umpire with national certification, are encouraged to attend. An open-book National Certification test will be given to first-time umpires. Returning umpires can become recertified, but do not have to take the test. The cost of the clinic alone is $25, which includes lunch, plus $45 to take the certification test or to recertify.
