MORANG, UW-W WIN DIV. III TITLE: The UW-Whitewater offense shined in Friday night's Amos Alonzo Stagg Bowl, claiming the NCAA Division III title with a 52-14 rout of defending champion and top-ranked Mount Union (Ohio) (14-1).

Whitewater (15-0) forced four second-half turnovers, including an interception and a fumble recovery from Dylan Morang (Lake Central). Quarterback Matt Behrendt earned Most Outstanding Player honors with a record-smashing performance, completing 20 of 28 passes for 249 yards and four touchdowns for the Warhawks.

GRAND VIEW TAKES NAIA TITLE: Derek Fulton threw four touchdown passes and ran for another score to help No. 2-ranked Grand View (14-0) win the NAIA title in the Iowa school's sixth year of football, 35-23 over No. 1 Cumberlands (13-1), on Saturday in Rome, Ga.

USC ROUTS NO. 21 FRESNO STATE: Southern California (10-4) wrapped up its rocky season by rolling over Fresno State (11-2) in the Las Vegas Bowl. Cody Kessler passed for 344 yards and a bowl-record four touchdowns in the Trojans' 45-20 victory over the 21st-ranked Bulldogs on Saturday under Clay Helton, their third head coach in less than three months.

COLORADO STATE STUNS WASHINGTON STATE: Jared Roberts made a 41-yard field goal with 3 seconds left, and Colorado State (8-6) overcame a 22-point deficit to beat Washington State (6-7) 48-45 in the New Mexico Bowl.

With less than 2 minutes left, Colorado State's Shaquil Barrett forced Cougars running back Jeremiah Laufasa to fumble at the Cougars 33. That set up Kapri Bibbs' 1-yard run scoring and Donnell Alexander's two-point conversion run that tied it with 33 seconds left. Then, Teondray Caldwell fumbled a kickoff return at the 24, setting up the winning field goal.

SAN DIEGO STATE TAKES FAMOUS POTATO BOWL: Adam Muema rushed for 229 yards and three touchdowns, and Quinn Kaehler threw two scoring passes as San Diego State (8-5) 49-24 defeated Buffalo (8-5) in the Famous Idaho Potato Bowl.

Men's basketball

ILLINI EDGE NO. 23 MISSOURI: Tracy Abrams scored a season-best 22 points and made two free throws with 4.6 seconds to lift Illinois over No. 23 Missouri 65-64 Saturday in the annual Braggin' Rights game.

Rayvonte Rice added 14 points for Illinois (10-2), which snapped a four-game losing streak in the 33rd renewal of the annual neutral-court matchup.

Jordan Clarkson had 25 points, and Earnest Ross added 13 for Missouri (10-1), which entered the game as the lone unbeaten school in the SEC.

NO. 3 OHIO STATE RALLIES PAST IRISH: Lenzelle Smith Jr. scored seven of his nine points in the final 33 seconds, and No. 3 Ohio State (12-0) rallied from an eight-point deficit with 1:54 to play to beat Notre Dame 64-61 in the BlackRock Gotham Classic at Madison Square Garden.

PRAIRIE STATE LOSES IN 3 OTS: Prairie State fell 104-103 in three overtimes to Malcolm X College. Thornwood grad Joe Hughes led all scorers with 32 points. He also had eight rebounds and six assists. Thornton grad Rayshaun Bruce had 23 points and 11 rebounds. Thornwood grad Rodney Smith had 19 points and seven assists for the Pioneers (3-11).

PUC CONTINUES HOME RULE: Purdue University Calumet won its sixth straight home game, holding off Kalamazoo, 87-77, for its 11th win in 13 games.

Noah Allen and Kaspars Brencans scored 18 points each as the Peregrines shot 55.8 percent from the floor and were 23 of 28 from the foul line.

Roddy Richardson added 14 points, Brandon Bradford 12 points and two blocked shots, and Dio Gomez 11 points. The visiting Hornets (4-4) came in averaging 86 points per game.

PUMAS FALL TO HOLY CROSS: Drew Moore sank two free throws with :16 remaining to lift visiting Holy Cross (11-5) past St. Joseph's (3-7), 77-75.

Jon Smith led the Pumas, who missed 25 of 32 3-point shot attempts, with 24 points and 10 rebounds; Cameron Vines had 16 points and Dawson Gore 10.

BUTLER GRINDS OUT WIN OVER EVANSVILLE: Alex Barlow scored 16 points and grabbed eight rebounds, both career highs, as Butler (9-2) broke away late to beat in-state rival Evansville 68-59.

Sophomore D.J. Balentine eclipsed his top-10 average of 22.8 points per game, with 26 points for Evansville (6-6).

AROP POWERS INDIANA STATE PAST IUPUI: Manny Arop scored 25 points to lead Indiana State over IUPUI 81-61. Marcellus Barksdale led the Jaguars with 17 points and 11 rebounds.

DAWSON HELPS NO. 5 SPARTANS BEAT TEXAS: Branden Dawson (Lew Wallace) had 11 points and 10 rebounds, and No. 5 Michigan State (10-1) dominated the final 11 minutes of a 92-78 victory over Texas (10-2).

SIU TOPS BALL STATE: Jalen Pendleton scored 21 points to lead Southern Illinois (3-8) to a 66-58 victory over Ball State. Zavier Turner had 15 points for Ball State (2-7).

Pro basketball

BOOZER LEADS BULLS OVER CAVS: Carlos Boozer scored 19 points, and the short-handed Bulls snapped a four-game losing streak with a 100-84 victory over the Cleveland Cavaliers on Saturday night.

D.J. Augustin scored 18. Tony Snell came on strong in the second half to finish with 17 points, and Chicago prevailed after matching its longest slide in four years under coach Tom Thibodeau.
