SPURS' GINOBILI OUT 2 WEEKS: San Antonio Spurs guard Manu Ginobili is expected to miss two weeks with a strained left oblique which he suffered during the second half of Saturday's 103-100 victory at the Los Angeles Clippers.

The Spurs had won 10 straight heading into Monday night's game with Utah. Forward Tiago Splitter also is expected to miss two weeks with a strained right calf.

Ginobili was playing in just his fourth game since missing 22 with a broken left hand.

BLAZERS' ODEN HAS ANOTHER SURGERY: Portland Trail Blazers' center and Indiana native Greg Oden was scheduled to have arthroscopic surgery Monday to "remove debris" from his left knee. The No. 1 pick in the 2007 draft, the often-injured 7-footer had the same procedure on his right knee earlier this month.

Over the course of his NBA career, Oden has had microfracture surgeries on both knees, surgery to repair a fractured left kneecap and now the two procedures this month. He has not played in an NBA game since Dec. 5, 2009, has appeared in 82 career games for the Blazers, averaging 9.4 points and 7.3 rebounds.

CELTICS' RONDO SUSPENDED 2 GAMES: Boston point guard Rajon Rondo has been suspended two games without pay by the NBA for throwing a ball at referee Sean Wright during Sunday's 96-81 loss at Detroit, when he received two technical fouls and was ejected late in the third quarter.

Rondo was ejected from a game for the first time in his professional career.

HAWKS ICE GIRLS TO VISIT AREA: The Blackhawks Ice Girls will visit Buddy & Pal's Place III in Schererville at 5 p.m. Sunday and the Crown Point Buddy & Pal's Place at 6 p.m. March 31. They will be signing autographs and taking photos with fans. Both locations are 21-and-older establishments. No minors will be admitted.

SINGLE-GAME TICKETS AVAILABLE FOR VU-BUTLER: Single-game tickets for the Valparaiso-Butler game on Friday are available through the Valparaiso University ticket office. Tickets are $20. The 6 p.m. game at the Athletics-Recreation Center will be televised on ESPNU.

Also, the 1961-62 VU basketball team will be honored during halftime. Seven players from the squad which played in what is now known as the NCAA Division II Tournament are scheduled to appear.

CRUSADERS PITCHER EARNS HORIZON LEAGUE HONORS: Valparaiso University senior Tyler Deetjen was named the Horizon League's Pitcher of the Week after tossing seven scoreless innings in the Crusaders' season opener on Friday.

The southpaw scattered four hits and walked one while striking out four in his first start of the season. He left the game with a 2-0 lead and earned a no decision. The Crusaders eventually won the game 5-2 in 13 innings and won two out of three games to open the year.

Boys basketball

PRESALE TICKETS AVAILABLE AT BISHOP NOLL: Fans wishing to buy tickets in advance of Friday's Bishop Noll at Andrean boys basketball game can pick them up at the Noll athletic office Wednesday or Thursday.

The athletic office is open from 3 to 5 p.m. Wednesday or noon to 3 p.m. Thursday.

ROUNDBALL CLASSIC CHAMPIONSHIP WEDNESDAY: The championship game of the Lansing Community Roundball Fifth-Grade Boys Basketball Classic will be held at 6 p.m. Wednesday at Memorial Junior High School in Lansing.

No admission will be charged, but there will be collection of canned goods and non-perishable food items for the Lansing Food Pantry.

Long-time region businessman Richard "Dick" Blythe received the 2012 Lifetime Achievement Award at Monday night's 58th annual Sportsmanship Dinner. The 1952 Hammond grad has been a member of the Calumet Region Sportsmanship Committee for more than 50 years. ... Atlanta Braves pitcher Tommy Hanson was checked for a possible concussion after blowing a tire on his way to the first workout of spring training. Manager Fredi Gonzalez says he got a call from Hanson shortly after 7 a.m. Monday. The right-hander wrecked near the team's Disney World training complex and apparently bumped his head on the steering wheel or windshield. ... Suspended slugger Manny Ramirez agreed on a minor league contract Monday with the Oakland Athletics that is worth approximately $500,000 if he's added to the big league roster.The A's announced the deal and said Ramirez is expected to report to spring training by the end of the week, in time for Oakland's first full-squad workout Saturday. He is a non-roster invitee who is due to serve a 50-game suspension for his second positive drug test before he can play for the A's. ... A day after trading A.J. Burnett, the New York Yankees used some of the salary they saved to add Raul Ibanez as their left-handed designated hitter. Ibanez and the Yankees agreed to a $1.1 million, one-year contract, a person familiar the negotiations said Monday.
