REGIONAL TICKETS ON SALE: Merrillville will sell tickets to Saturday's Class 4A Michigan City Regional and offer bus transportation for students and adults. Tickets will be available from 7:30 a.m. to noon today. Enter the school through entrance "Q." Tickets are $10 and good for all three games. Bus tickets are $5.

At Boone Grove, Class 2A North Judson Regional tickets are on sale until noon today. Tickets are $10.

BETWEEN-GAME STOP AT NORTH JUDSON: St. Peter Lutheran School in North Judson will offer food, refreshments and activities from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday for fans attending the Class 2A North Judson Regional.

Rib-eye sandwiches, Piggies and Cream pork burgers, ice cream, chips, pop, water and candy will be on sale at the school, located at 810 W. Talmer Ave., three blocks north of the high school on Ind. 10. The school will open its gym, with games, movies and Wi-Fi also available. Girls basketball

LAPORTE'S HEATH JR. ALL-STAR: LaPorte guard Jaclyn Heath has been named to the North group of the Junior All-Stars.

The North group will join the core group for one game against the Kentucky Junior All-Stars on June 7 or 8 and one game against the IndyStar.com Indiana All-Star girls the Indiana seniors on June 10 or 12.

The Junior All-Star team is determined by the 22-member Indiana Basketball Coaches Association all-state panel in conjunction with its selection of the IBCA/Subway Underclass All-State Team.

WHITE SOX, SALE REACH DEAL: The White Sox say they have agreed on a five-year, $32.5 million contract with left-handed starter Chris Sale.

The 23-year-old went 17-8 with a 3.05 EA and 192 strikeouts in his first season a starter. He was on the American League All-Star team and finished sixth in the Cy Young voting.

Sale will receive $850,000 in 2013, $3.5 million in 2014, $6.0 million in 2015, $9.15 million in 2016 and $12 million in 2017. The team holds options for 2018 ($12.5) and 2019 ($13.5).

JORDAN APPLIES FOR MARRIAGE LICENSE: Basketball legend Michael Jordan appears ready to get married again.

The former NBA star and Charlotte Bobcats owner and his fiancée appeared at the main Palm Beach County courthouse Thursday morning to apply for a marriage license. That's according to Kathy Burstein, a spokeswoman for the clerk's office. Jordan got engaged to his longtime girlfriend, Cuban-American model Yvette Prieto, in December 2011.

It will be the second marriage for No. 23. He married Juanita Vanoy in September 1989. They divorced in 2006.

BLACKBIRDS ADVANCE TO SECOND ROUND: The Illiana Blackbirds will play host to the Wooster (Ohio) Oilers this weekend in the second round of the Minnesota Junior Hockey League playoffs at Midwest Training and Ice Center, 10600 White Oak Ave., St. John.

Game 1 of the best-of-three series will start at 6:50 p.m. today; Game 2 will begin at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, and Game 3, if necessary, will start at 4:10 p.m. Sunday. For details, go to illianablackbirds.com.

WOODS TIED FOR LEAD AT DORAL: Tiger Woods and most of the world's best golfers were on their games Thursday in the Cadillac Championship.

Except for the world's No. 1 player.

Woods made birdie on half his holes on the Blue Monster at Doral for a 6-under 66. He was part of a five-way tie for the lead that included Masters champion Bubba Watson, former U.S. Open champion Graeme McDowell, Sergio Garcia and Freddie Jacobson. Phil Mickelson, Steve Stricker and Hunter Mahan were among those one shot behind.

It was another struggle for Rory McIlroy. He shot a 73, and has yet to have a round under par this year.

Purdue Calumet team physician Lorin Brown, MD, discusses recovery from various sports injuries on "Purdue Calumet Sports Insight" at 5:30 p.m. today on WJOB-AM (1230). ... Calumet College's softball went 2-1 Thursday at the Tucson Invitational. The Crimson Wave defeated NAIA No. 22-ranked William Penn 4-1 in the opener, beat Viterbo 8-2, then lost 4-0 to Hope International. ... Clarke swept Calumet College's baseball team 12-5 and 9-3 in a doubleheader Wednesday.
