The Indiana University Northwest Gallery for Contemporary Art in the Savannah Center at the university will be the site of an Illiana Artists members juried exhibit.

This exhibit is featured through July 16 during regular gallery hours. An artist's reception will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday. Refreshments will be served and the public is welcome.

This exhibit will include the works of local Indiana and Illinois artists and will feature a wide range of media. Included will be oils, acrylics, mixed media, pastels and watercolors. Original prints, including serigraphs, will be represented.

Three-dimensional works and sculpture in various media will be shown, and the artistic styles represented vary as much as the media. Works range from representational to abstract, and subject matter is a panorama spanning everything from landscape and figurative to expressionist themes.

In the exhibit, 37 artists display more than 50 works of art.

The artists, from Lake and Porter counties as well as Illinois, are Larry Jensen, Beverly Shores; Rose Ray and Jan Stewart, Chesterton; Marilyn Deming and Leona Jurinzie, Chicago; Gerrie Govert , Nancy Heitman and Barbara Jones, Crown Point; Doris Gibson, Flossmoor; James Asberry, Saundra Goldsby, Ken Goodman and Alex Miller, Gary; Maria Brown, Hammond; Jackie Cerf, Mary Kuric and Alice Phillips, Highland; Jeanne Paris, Homewood; Jeannie Carbone, Karen Kortenhoven and Bill Westerhof, Lansing; Larry Spisak and Michael Stulac, Merrillville; Bob Boyle, Norabell Grych, Barbara Meeker, Shari LeMonnier and Stella Wilson, Munster; Michael Ibarra, Richton Park; Charles Capek, Karin Eisermann and Machteld Tims, Schererville; Lenore Senovic and Lynn Olson, Valparaiso; Stephen Bubalo, Wheatfield; Betty Delinck, Whiting; and Illiana Artist's newest member, Mary Dahl.

The judge for the exhibit was Linda Dorman-Gainer, an art curator from Hammond.

Best of show went to Karin Eisermann; first place was awarded to Alice Phillips; second place went to Doris Gibson; and third place went to Alex Miller. Honorable mentions were awarded to Maria Bruan, Charles Capek and Machteld Tims.
