A 36-year-old Gary woman will receive a nearly $1.2 million settlement after being injured three years ago in a bus crash, her attorney said.
Sharon Borom was one of 46 passengers, many from Northwest Indiana and Chicago, who were headed to the President Casino in Davenport, Iowa, in January 1999 when the tour bus in which they were riding rolled over in Bureau County, Ill., according to attorney Kenneth J. Allen.
Borom, who suffered serious injury to her cervical spine in the accident, filed suit against Neal's Bus Co. when she learned the driver had been speeding at the time of the crash and had previously been fired from Greyhound for speeding, Allen said.
