John R. Edwards

Lake Station

John R. Edwards, 62, of Lake Station passed

away on Wednesday, February 17, 1999. He was a Lake Station resident for 32

years and a lifelong Northwest Indiana resident. He was the owner of Edward's

Motors on Central Ave. in Lake Station. Survived by his wife, Mae; five

children, Steve (Julia) Edwards and Jackie Edwards, both of Valparaiso, Mike

(Tanya) Edwards, Ray (Lynnette) Edwards and Carla (Brian) Vaughan, all of

Portage, 12 grandchildren; and two sisters, Patricia Wade of Chesterton and

Virginia (Frank) Bertucci of Portage.

Funeral services Friday, February 19,

1999, 12 Noon prayers at Rees Funeral Home, Brady Chapel, 3781 Central Ave.,

Lake Station, and 12:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Francis Xavier

Church with Rev. Robert B. Evers celebrating the Mass. Cremation at Calvary

Thomas John Gross, Jr.,

28, of Winnemucca, Nevada, formerly of Gary and Portage, Indiana, passed away

on Monday, February 15, 1999 as the result of an accident at the Getchell Gold

Mine. A graduate of Portage High School, class of 1988 where Tom was active in

high school band. He was an avid fisherman and cook. He was a member of the

Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church in Parump, Nevada. Survived by his wife,

Lillian (nee Tello); three sons, Thomas J. Gross III, Branden M. Gross and

Anthony M. Garza and two daughters, Tiffany Garza and Tonya Garza, all of

Winnemucca, parents, Thomas and Jennifer Gross of Portage; two brothers, Robert

Gross of Hobart and Kevin Gross of Portage; maternal grandmother, Stella V.

Buckwalter of Portage; also, many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and friends.

Margaret Mary Hillsamer (nee

Olson), 75, of Hobart, passed away on Tuesday, February 16, 1999. Margaret was

the beloved wife of Wilbur L. Hillsamer for 57 years. The beloved mother of

Nancy (Timothy) Koss and Anne Remenius, both of Hobart, Indiana and John W.

"Jack" Hillsamer of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; She will be greatly missed by

grandchildren: Collette (Martin) Cleland, Rhonda (Tom) Grynovich and Tiffany

(Jay) Mummey, all of Hobart, Indiana, Mark (Susan) Koss of Anderson, IN, and

four very loved great grandchildren. Margaret is also survived by a brother Jim

(Kay) Olson and many caring nieces nephews. Preceded in death by parents, John

C. and Anna Olson, brother, Harold E. Olson and son-in-law John S. Remenius

Mark H. Luckel, 37, of Lowell, IN passed away on

Monday, February 15, 1999. He is survived by his parents, Raymond and Phyllis

Luckel of Lowell, and one brother, Dale T. Luckel of Lowell.

Funeral services

will be held on Friday, February 19, 1999, 11 a.m. at the Sheets Funeral Home,

604 E. Commercial Ave., Lowell, IN., Pastor David Skidmore officiating. Burial

will follow at Lowell Memorial Cemetery. Friends are invited to call on

Mark was a member

of the 1st Baptist Church of Cedar Lake and attended Valparaiso University.

Teresa A. "Terri"

Null, 37, of Chesterton, passed away Monday, February 15 1999. Teresa was a

lifelong Miller/Portage area resident. She was self employed as a professional

appraiser and was affiliated with Ross Appraisals of South Bend and Plymouth.

Survivors are son, Brandon Null of Chesterton; mother, Peggy Ann Casey of

California; one brother, Christopher A. (Toni L.) Casey of Crown Point; two

nephews, Jordan A. Casey and Garrett J. Casey, both of Crown Point. Preceded in

death by father, Everett and brother, Darrell Wayne Casey.

Chapel, 5341 Central Ave., Portage, IN. Cremation at Calvary Cemetery, Portage.

Ricky Dale Null, 41, of

Chesterton, passed away Monday, February 15, 1999. Ricky was a lifelong

Miller/Portage area resident. He was employed as a truck driver with Columbia

Pipe and was a member of Teamsters Local #142. Survivors are son, Brandon Null

of Chesterton; mother, Gladys Null of Portage; three brothers, Robert L.

(Barbara) Null of Hobart, John A. (Maryanne) Null of Portage and Danny B.

(Deborah) Null of Valparaiso; nieces, Lisa Null Cannon and Christine Null,

nephew, Bob Null. Preceded in death by father, John L. Null and nephew, Gary J.

Null.

Funeral services will be Thursday, February 18, 1999 at 10 a.m. at Rees

Funeral Home, Olson Chapel, 5341 Central Ave., Portage. Burial at Calvary

Sophie A. Rogers, 78, of Portage, passed

away on Tuesday, February 15, 1999 at Porter Memorial Hospital, Valparaiso, IN.

She was a Portage resident for 22 years and former longtime Gary resident.

Member of Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church in South Haven and retired from

the School City of Gary with 22 years of service. Survived by three sons,

Joseph (Jacquelyn) Rogers of Portage, Lawrence (Linda) Rogers of Hobart and

John Rogers of Portage; three grandchildren, Wendy, Michael and Dana Rogers;

two brothers, John (Pauline) Kowal of Clairton, PA and John Subart of Portage,

IN; two sisters, Stella Cieslak of LaPorte and Anne (Ovid) Neid of Knox, IN.

Preceded in death by husband, Joseph R. Rogers.

Ruth A. Stephens (nee

Davis), 87, of Crown Point, IN, formerly of Colorado Springs, CO. and born in

Wabash, IN on May 13, 1911, passed away on Wednesday, February 17, 1999. Ruth

was preceded in death by her husband, Carl R. Stephens on April 11, 1998.

Survived by two daughters, Kristin A. (Richard) Smith of Albuquerque, N.M. and

Jody (Gene) Grieger of Valparaiso, IN; six grandchildren, Shelley (Barry) Miles

of Maryland, Lynn Glassburn of Colorado, Scott (Ruth) Glassburn of West

Virginia, Lori (Daniel) Lodics of New York, Wendy (James) Guth of Lake Station

and Michael (Mary) Grieger of Indianapolis, IN; 11 great grandchildren.

A

Memorial Service will be held at the Graceland Cemetery Mausoleum in

Valparaiso, Indiana (time and date will be announced later). Cremation at the

Burns Funeral Home Crematory will precede the memorial service. There will be
