May 29, 1999. Survived by three sons, Raymond (Patricia) or Oregon City, OR,

Thomas of Lansing, IL and Robert (Mary Ellen) of Vernon

Hills, IL; six grandchildren; and one sister, Cecile Malec of Valparaiso.

Funeral services Wednesday, June 2, 1999 at 9:30 a.m. from the Schroeder-

Lauer Funeral Home, 3227 Ridge Road, Lansing, Illinois, to Our Lady of Knock

Church for Mass at 10 a.m. Burial

Merrillville; four great grandchildren; one sister, Rose Turner of Ohio.

Preceded in death by parents, George and Katherine Antel and sister, Marie

Mr. Antal was a member and usher at the Gloria Dei Lutheran Church of Highland

and retired from U.S. Steel with 29 years of service. Memorials may be given to

Joseph Bayusz, 87, formerly of Hammond, IN, passed away May 22, 1999 in

Houston, Texas, where he resided with his grandson, Joe Jezuit. Retired from

Amoco Refinery, Whiting, Indiana.

He was an avid fisherman and outdoorsman all his life. Preceded in death by his

wife, Jean (nee Dembowski) Bayusz in 1978. Survived by three daughters, Arlene

Smith, Patricia Watkins and Lynore Flanagan; 10 grandchildren; 11 great

grandchildren. Cremation

took place in Houston, Texas. Memorials may be given to St. Casimir Church,

Hammond, Indiana.

KY: sister, Myrna Weakley of Hopkinsville, KY; 16 grandchildren; 7 great

grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son, Wayne Beard and daughter,

was retired from Blaw Knox Co. and was a member of Cool Springs Church near

Cedar Grove. He loved God, his family,his church and the beauty of nature. He

will be sadly missed by all who knew him.

Preceded in death by her husband, William, daughter, Patty, sons, William and

Gerry. She is survived by two daughters, Shirley (Allie) Mysliwy of Highland

and Annamae (Albert) Archer

of Munster; two sons, Rex (Betty) and Jack Bruchman, both of California; 30

grandchildren; 63 great grandchildren; 12 great great grandchildren.

Private funeral services were held at the convenience of the family at Calumet

Park Cemetery, Merrillville with

Bocken Funeral Home of Hessville in charge of arrangements.

Mrs.Bruchman was a resident of the Calumet area for 73 years, a Charter

member of the Redeemer Lutheran Church of Highland. She was a Gold Star Mother

during World War II of the American Legion

away on Friday, May 28, 1999. She is survived by one son, Walter (Mary) Burke

and one granddaughter, Elizabeth Burke.

Margaret Cleveland, 76, of 410 E. Adams Ave., Fairfield, IA 52556 died at

her home on Monday, May 24, 1999. A memorial service will be held at Barhydt

Chapel in Fairfield on Tuesday, June 1st at 1 p.m. Mrs.

Cleveland was born November 17, 1922 in Hammond, Indiana, the daughter of

Martin and Cora Schwartz. She married Clyde S. Cleveland, also from Hammond, on

August 3, 1947. She earned her nursing degree from St. Francis School of

Nursing in Peoria, Illinois,

and immediately went to serve overseas as an Army nurse in World War II. She

lived most of her adult life in Munster, Indiana working for the Northwest

Indiana Visiting Nurses Association. Upon retirement, she and her husband moved

to San Diego, California

where they lived for 17 years before their recent move to Fairfield, IA.

Survivors include her husband, one son, Clyde J. Cleveland and one daughter,

Coralee Mallard, both of Fairfield, IA; one sister, Marie Reitz of Munster

Indiana and six grandchildren.

Wayne W. Frye, 75, of Mesa, Arizona,

died on Wednesday, May 12, 1999 in Mesa. He was born in Monona, Iowa, on Dec.

14, 1923, to Henry and Mabel Frye. He graduated from Hayward, Wisconsin High

School and served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. He married Mary L. Lauterbach

on Sept. 4, 1945. He moved

to Highland, Indiana, in 1952, and was employed at LTV Steel. He retired in

1986 and moved to Mesa, AZ, shortly thereafter. He is survived by his wife,

Mary; two daughters, Darliss Norris of Highland, IN and Carla Reese of Gilbert,

AZ; three grandchildren,

Brian Norris, Karen (Craig) Pearson and George Knish; three brothers, Harold of

Hayward, WI, Roger of Springbrook WI and Clifford of Milwaukee, WI. He was

preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and three sisters. A memorial

service was held on Saturday,

May 15, 1999 in Mesa. A graveside service was held on Monday, May 24th at

Greenwood Cemetery, Hayward, WI. Military Rites accorded by the Hayward

Veterans Council.

life with her Lord on Wednesday, May 26, 1999 after a long struggle with

illnesses and many surgeries. She is survived

by her husband of 33 years, Thomas W. Musgrove, mother, Marian Catherman of

Hortonville, WI. She was also the devoted mother of three daughters, Media

Ducret-Madera of Whiting, Tammy (Billy) Musgrove and April (Mike) Baron, both

of Hammond, son, Sean (Rene)

Musgrove of Whiting; sister of Beverly (William) Fischer of Hortonville, WI,

Dixie will be lovingly remembered by her many friends and dedicated

caregivers. She always said

"I only want happiness for the ones I love." She was born Aug. 27, 1942 in

Altoona, PA. She graduated from East Gary Edison High School in 1959 and Purdue

University Calumet in 1962 as a L.P.N. She was a lifetime resident of Lake

County, living for her family.

She attended Whiting Baptist Church, the First Church of Christ, Whiting and

the Joyce Meyer Ministries. She was a devoted Christian who loved reading her

Bible.

Orpha McDonald, 71, of Hammond, passed away Wednesday, May 26,

1999. She is survived by her loving husband of fifty years, Robert; her sons,

Funeral services begin 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, June

1, 1999 at the Rees Funeral Home, Olson Chapel, 5341 Central Ave., Portage, IN,

and precede to St. Francis Xavier Church for 10 a.m. Celebration of the Mass of

Christian Burial with Rev. Robert B. Evers officiating. Cremation will follow

at Calvary Crematory.

Visitation will be 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at the Rees Funeral Home,

Marjorie G. Schell, 88, formerly of Hammond, died at 11:36 p.m. Wednesday,

May 12, 1999 at Good

Samaritan Hospital in Vincennes. She was a resident of Freelandville, IN. Born

March 26, 1911 in Freelandville, she was the daughter of George and Martha

Morford. She had retired in 1966 as a first grade teacher in Hammond. She also

taught in Highland and

Munster with most of her career at Harding Elementary School. She had been the

oldest living member of the Freelandville Christian Church where she was a

former Sunday School Teacher. She was a member of Tri Kappa, the Retired

Teachers Association and Vincennes

Daughters of the American Revolution. She married Thayer Schell who died in

1968. Also deceased are three sisters, Vi Backs, Dorothy Kirchoff and Gwen

Wolf, and one nephew, Bill (Janet) Backs of Pinedale, Wyoming. Surviving are

three nephews and two nieces,

Joe (Judy) Kirchoff of Freelandville, Bob (Bev) Kirchoss of Mobile, Alabama,

Marge (Bob) Dahnke of Lafayette, Martha (Rudy) Smith of Decatur, Michigan and

Tim (Maureen) Wolfe of Highland; great nieces and nephews; great great nieces

and nephews and brother-in-law

Joseph F. Sliwa, 81, late of Hegewisch, IL, passed away Friday, May 28,

1999 at home. Survivors are wife, Johanna;

two daughters, Angie (Harold) Couture and Carol (Frank) Brandys;

brother-in-law, Peter (Margaret) Castellarin and sister-in-law, Josephine

Tierney; nine grandchildren: Steven (Wendy) Couture, Karrieann (Michael)

Kroeger, Jennifer (Paul) Couture, Troy and

Travis Couture, Connie (George) Youpel, Richard (Sherry) Urbanski, Cindy

Urbanski and Frank Brandys, Jr; seven great-grandchildren, Linnea and Logan

Couture, Alexander, Jeremy, Halie and Joey Urbanski and Georgie Youpal; many

nieces and nephews. Preceded

in death by a daughter, Mary (Richard) Urbanski and three brothers, Frank

(Isabelle), Stanley (late Irene) and Barney (Ann) Swila.

Services Tuesday, June 1, 1999 at 9 a.m. from Opyt Funeral Home, 13350

Baltimore Ave., Hegewisch, IL, to St. Columba Church

for a 9:30 a.m. Mass. Entombment at Holy Cross Cemetery. Visitation Monday from

2 to 9 p.m.

Mr. Sliwa was retired from GATX (East Chicago). A WWII Army veteran.

Mary Marie Stowell

Lake Village, IN

Mary Marie Stowell, 73, of Lake Village, IN, passed

away on Friday, May 28, 1999 at St. Anthony Medical Center. She was born Nov.

20, 1925 to the late tony and Mae Domele. She was married to the late Charles

"Fred" Stowell on March 15, 1947 in Shelby, IN. She is survived by one son,

James Stowell of San Francisco,

CA; one brother, Charles (Marlene) Domele of Lake Village and a host of nieces,

nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, June 1, 1999, 10 a.m. at Sheets Funeral

Home, 604 E. Commercial Ave., Lowell, IN 46356, with Pastor

Kenneth Burris officiating. Burial will follow in Lake Village Cemetery.

Friends are invited to call on Monday from 4 to 8 p.m at the funeral home.

Mary was a long time member of the Eastern Star and the Lake Village Grange.

She retired from U.S. Steel after

30 years.

Frances L. Summerlot, 81, of Highland, IN, passed away on Thursday, May 27,

1999. Survived by two daughters, Janice (Frank) Hall of Rensselaer and Marilyn

Satmary of Hammond; son, Donald Smith of Severn, Maryland;

10 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren; two sisters, Hedwig Gordon of

Chicago and Mary Hays of Cedar Lake.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, June 1, 1999 at 1 p.m. from the

Fagen-Miller Funeral Home, 2828 Highway Ave., Highland, IN, with burial

at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens, Schererville, IN. Friends may call at the

funeral home on Monday from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Mrs. Summerlot was a former cook at Ben's Lounge in Highland.
