Adams (Millie)

(nee Gocal)

Millicent Marie Adams (Millie) (nee Gocal) of East Chicago, passed away

Thursday, October 6, 1994. She is survived by her loving husband, George; three

loving children; daughter, Linda (John) Segovia of East Chicago; two sons,

George M. Adams of Dearborn, Michigan, and Ronald S. (Laura) Adams of Lake In

The Hills, Illinois; two grandsons, John P. Segovia and Ian M. Segovia; sister,

Marcia (Joseph )Gabor of Highland; father-in-law, George (Olga) Adams of East

Chicago; sister-in-law, Dorothy (Steve) Procko of Merrillville; many nieces,

nephews, numerous special friends and relatives residing in Grand Rapids,

Michigan and Chicago, Illinois. She was preceded in death by her parents,

Michael and Emily Gocal, and brother, Walter Gocal.

Private family services were held at St.Stanislaus Church inEast Chicago.

At rest Holy Cross Cemetery, Calumet City, Illinois. Millie was a lifelong

resident of East Chicago; she was a member of St.Stanislaus Church; a graduate

of Roosevelt High School in East Chicago; member of Musicians Guild Local #203

and the Polish Womens Alliance. Millie entertained thousands of people in her

musical career in the greater Calumet area; she was the manager, bassist and

vocalist for the George Adams Combo. She was a devoted wife, mother and

grandmother, who was loved by all who knew her. In lieu of flowers,

contributions may be made to the family for Mass and charitable intentions.

Dorothy J. Blythe, 74, of Gary, passed away Monday, October 10, 1994.

She is survived by daughter, Judith (Rex) Tucker of Douglasville, Georgia; son,

Ronald (LeAnna) Blythe of Gary; five grandchildren and five great

grandchildlren; two sisters, Betty (Norman) Knight of Drakesboro, Kentucky and

Barbara (Gene) Porter of Greenville, Kentucky Preceded in death by husband, Lee

and daughter, Melody Lynn.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, October 13, 1994 at 10 a.m.

from the Bocken Funeral Home with Pastor Bob Richards officiating. Burial at

Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens, Schererville. Friends are invited to call at the

Bocken Funeral Home, 7042 Kennedy Ave., Hessville on Wednesday from 2 to 5 and

7 to 9 p.m.

Mrs. Blythe was a resident of the Calumet area for 50 years; member of the

Black Oak Baptist Church; retired from the School City of Hammond as a

custodian and was a former waitress at the Sip and Bite Restaurant.

"Dee"

Doloris G. Butiste "Dee", 64, of Highland, passed away Sunday, October

9, 1994. She is survived by a sister-in-law, Maxine (late Frank) Butiste of

South Bend; four nephews, three nieces, several great nieces and nephews; two

first cousins, Leo Butiste of Maine and Gracie Hepburn of New York; friend, Joy

Hartke and other close friends.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, October 13, 1994 at 9:30 a.m.

at the Kuiper Funeral Home Chapel and a Mass of Christian burial will be

offered at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Grace Church with Rev. Edward Moszur

officiating. Burial at Calumet Park Cemetery, Merrillville. Friends may meet

with the family Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Kuiper Funeral Home, 9039

Kleinman Rd (2 blks south of Ridge Road), Highland. Prayer service Wednesday at

Miss Butiste was a member of Our Lady of Grace Church of Highland; retired

from St. Catherine Hospital after 22 years of service, Director of Social

Services; active with the Lake Area United Way; past president of Planning and

Allocations; active in the Cancer Support Group at St. Margaret Hospital;

American Red Cross volunteer and a active member in the Indiana State Hospital

Social Work Directors. She was a graduate of Loyola University with a Masters

Degree in Social Work. In lieu of flowers, please take someone to lunch and

James R. Campbell

James R. Campbell, 57, a Hobart resident for many years, passed away

Tuesday, October 11, 1994. Jim was a graduate of Hobart High School, class of

1955 and was an employee of U.S. Steel, Sheet & Tin Mill Division. Preceded in

death by his father, Oscar T. Campbell. Survived by his mother, Mildred

Campbell (James) O'Malley of Sarasota, Florida; three sons, James Campbell of

Washington D.C., Jeffery (Kathy) Campbell of Schererville and Ryan Campbell of

Merrillville; one daughter, Laura (Joseph) Estes of Arkansas; two brothers,

Leroy (Helen) Campbell of San Pierre, Indiana and Tom Campbell of Indianapolis;

two sisters, Sharon (Mick) Zimney of Michigan City, Indiana and Kim Galler of

Hobart; fiancee, Beverly J. Dukich of Hobart; also, several grandchildren and

nieces and nephews.

Mary J. Christian, 78, of Highland, Indiana, passed away Monday, October

10, 1994. Survived by daughter, Barbara Jean (Gilbert) Higuet of South

Carolina; four grandchildren, Ron (Linda) Gatlin of Crown Point, IN, Gail

(Terry) Benge of Gary, Indiana, Sandy (Jeff) Barnett of Crown Point, and Bobbie

Jo (Jerry) Vasile of Portage; five great-grandchildren; one sister, Genevieve

Sagel of South Chicago.

Private funeral service will be held Friday, October, 14, 1994, with

Reverend Peter Mucha officiating. Burial will be in Chapel Lawn Memorial

Mrs. Christian was a resident of Highland for 37 years; member of our

John H. Elman, 72, of Gary, Indiana, passed away Tuesday, October 11,

1994. Survivors: one son, John (Ann) Elman of Hammond; one sister, Carol Roth

of Hammond; grandchildren, Rex Roth and Betty Roth; three sisters, Rusty

(Louis) DeBoer of Hammond, Ella (Frank) Thomas of Hammond and Anna Goverl of

Griffith; very special friends Mildred Billings and family of Gary.

Otto Franckevicius

Otto Franckevicius, 85, of Hammond, passed away Monday, October 10,

1994. He is survived by four daughters, Erika (Kestutis) Sidabras of Munster,

Renata (John) Peisker of Hammond, Herta (Daniel) Crick of Brook, Indiana and

Teresa (James) VanOver of Hammond; one son, Otto (Janet) Franckevicius of

Munster; nine grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Preceded in death by

wife, Jadvyga in May of 1994.

William D. Gass

William D. Gass, 64, of Lake Station, formerly of Gary and Valparaiso,

passed away in Porter Memorial Hospital on Tuesday, October 11, 1994. He is

retired from Millwright Local #1043 after 29 years of service; veteran of the

Korean Conflict, U.S. Navy; member of American Legion Lake Station Post #100;

member of Gary Lodge 677 F&AM and the Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite, Valley of

South Bend; member of St. Joseph Valley Low Club. Preceded in death by his

parents, Ada Sue Robertson and David E. Gass. Survived by his wife of 25 years,

Carolyn M. (nee Sutton) Gass of Lake Station, one son, Mitchell R. Gass of

Portage; one daughter, Rhonda M. Gass of Lake Station; three grandchildren,

Damien, Matthew and Kristen; brother-in-law, Ronald (Pat) Sutton of Cedar Lake;

Tony E. Glibota

Tony E.Glibota, 70, of Merrillville, Indiana, passed away on Wednesday,

October 12, 1994. He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Margaret M. Glibota

(nee Benac); three sons, Thomas (Pamela) Glibota of Littleton, Colorado, Gary

Glibota of Merrillville, and Charles (Holly) Glibota of Cedar Lake; one

daughter, Susan (Peter )Hlavaty of Highland;one grandson, Nicholas Hlavaty;

daughter-in-law, Darlene Glibota, of Valparaiso; two sisters, Rose Glibota of

Merrillville and Violet (Phillip) Plummer, of Hobart. He was preceded in death

by his son, Joseph, on May 5, 1994.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 10 am from the Stilinovich &

Wiatrolik Funeral Home, to SS Peter and Paul Church for a 10:30 a.m.Mass with

Rev. Dennis Teles, officiating. Interment will follow at Chapel Lawn Memorial

Gardens in Schererville. Visitation will be Friday from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 pm at

the Stilinovich & Wiatrolik Funeral Home, 7535 Taft Street, Merrillville. A

Virgil Service will be offered at 4:30 p.m. Friday. In lieu of flowers,

memorials are preferred to Hospice of the Calumet Area, Inc.

Mr. Glibota was born in Gary and was a Merrillville resident for 41

years. He was a member of SS Peter & Paul Catholic Church; Lodge #170 of the

Croatian Fraternal Union; retired from the U.S. Postal Service after 37 years

of service; a member of Turkey Creek Golf Course. Also, a U.S. Navy veteran of

World War II. Those who knew Tony also knew that his passion in life was the

game of golf. He will be deeply missed by all that knew and loved him.

Edward E. Hawkins

Edward E.Hawkins, 71, of Portage, passed away Wednesday, October 12, 1994,

at St.Mary Medical Center, Hobart. He was born November 14, 1922, in East

Chicago, Indiana, the son of Edwin E.and Eleanor Rose (McGill) Hawkins. He is

survived by his wife, Betty Marie of Portage; one son, Ronald S.Hawkinsof De

Motte; one daughter, Linda D.(Kenneth) Cichocki of Chesterton; two

granddaughters, Kathryn Renee and Sandra Beth Cichocki of Chesterton; one

brother Bernard F. (Nadine) Hawkins of Hessville; one sister, Marian Corbett of

Mesa, Arizona and many nieces andnephews. He was preceded in death by his

parents; two brothers, Ray and Ransom Hawkins and one sister, Dorothy Quigley.

Funeral services will be held Friday, October 14, 1994, at 10;30 Am at

Garyton Covenant Church with Pastor Larry Fullerton officiating.Interment will

be in Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call Thursday, October 13, 1994, from 2 to

Mr. Hawkins was a Portage resident for 36 years; was married on August

31, 1967 in Portage to Betty Marie Nelson; was a retired supervisor employed by

the F.W.Means Company for 7 years, a former mechanic employed by the Bowman

Dairy for 20 years; a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Force, World War II, he was

a member of GarytonCovenant Church, Port City American Legion Post 260 of

Portage, V.F.W. post 7760 of Portage, and Eunice Bonner Senior Center.

Chester Ira

Chester Ira, 66, of Highland, passed away Tuesday, October 11, 1994. He

is survived by his wife, Jean; one son, Thomas Ira with the U.S. Air Force in

New Mexico; one daughter, Lucille (Edward) Hodge of Highland; four grandsons,

Matthew, Joel, Thomas and Christopher.

Funeral services will be held Friday, October 14, 1994, at 9:30 a.m. at

Florence M. Kessler

Florence M. Kessler, 74, of Holland, Michigan, passed away Tuesday, October

11, 1994, inHolland Community Hospital, Holland, Michigan. She is survived by

her children Camille Bodin of Kankakee, Illinois; Martin and Charlotte Kessler

of Griffith, Indiana, Laura and Robert Wilson of Highland, Indiana;

grandchildren, Gregory Bodin, Jeffrey Bodin, Carrie Wilson and Ryan Wilson;

sisters, Janice Bruce, Barbara Gates, and Mary Ellen and Bill Smith;

sisters-in- law-Vonnie VanderWerf, all of Michigan; nephews, nieces, cousins

and many loving friends. Florence was preceded in death by her husband, Norman,

and grandson, Robert Jeffrey Wilson.

Memorial services will be at 2 pm Sunday, October 16, 1994, at the First

Reformed Churchin Holland, Michigan, with the Revs. Daniel Gillett and

Elizabeth DeJonge officiating. No visitation is scheduled. Memorials may be

Florence was born in Grand Rapids, Michigan, and graduated from Ottawa

Hills High School. She lived in Whiting, Indiana, until returning to Holland in

1968. She worked at the Whiting Clinic and the Chicago Sun Times. She was a

member of the First Reformed Church and the Holland Garden Club.

Larry L.Olinger, 46, of St. Charles, Illinois, passed away Tuesday,

October 11, 1994, at Glen Oaks Hospital, Glen Ellyn, Illinois. He is survived

by wife, Jill; one son, Tony Olinger of Palmetto, Florida, formerly of Hammond,

Indiana; two step-daughters, Milisa Henigan of Schaumburg, Illinois, and

Stephanie Henigan of St.Charles, Illinois; his mother, Eva Strange of Ft.Payne,

Alabama; two sisters, Loretta Olinger of Portage, Indiana and Level (Galen)

Dolan of Portage, Indiana; one brother, Leslie (Vickey) Olinger of Austine,

Texas, and several aunts and uncles. He was preceded in death by his father,

Andrew Olinger.

Funeral services will be held Saturday at the Sand Mountain Funeral Home

in Rainville, Alabama. Visitation will be held 4 to 8 pm Thursday, October 13,

1994, at Yurs Funeral Home, St.Charles, Illinois. Burial will be in Scottsboro,

Alabama.

Mr. Olinger was born September 18, 1948, in Section, Alabama; he was a

member of the St. Charles VFW and had been employed for UPS in Addison,

Illinois, for 23 years.

Jessica Rae Mierzwa, 2-1/2 months, of Griffith, Indiana, passed away

Tuesday, October 11,1994. Survivors: parents, Greg and Sandy; one brother

Travis; two sisters, Rachel and Audrey; grandparents, James and Barbara Mohn

of Crown Point, Gene Mierzwa of Schererville and Maryann Mierzwa of Hegewisch.

Eileen Patricia Prorok, 80, of Michigan City, Indiana, formerly of

Hammond, passed away Tuesday, October 11, 1994, at St. Anthony Hospital,

Michigan City, Indiana. She is survived by two sons, Terrence F.(Alice) Prorok

of Orlando, Florida, and Patrick J. (Patsy) Prorok of Michigan City, Indiana;

three grandchildren, Sharon Hughes of Orlando, Florida, Richard Prorok of

Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and Daniel Prorok of Franklin, PA; one great-grandson,

Michael Poulter, of Orlando, Florida; one sister, Wilda Nondorf of Crown Point,

Indiana; numerous nieces and nephews; preceded in death by her husband,

Francis J. Prorok, two brothers and three sisters.

Raymond Carl Riddle "Biz", of Chicago's East Side, passed away Tuesday,

October 11, 1994 at Glenwood Terrace Nursing Home. Born June 5, 1914. He is

survived by loving wife, Bernice (nee Schulte); daughter, Dorothy (Eli) Hrnyak

of Glenwood; two grandsons, Mark Raymond Hrnyak of Glenwood and Nick

(Stephanie) Hrnyak; great-grandson, Mitchel Steven Hrnyak of Frankfort,

Illinois; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Preceded in

death by three brothers, William, George and Walter (Elizabeth) Riddle of the

East Side.

step-daughter, Helena (Stanislaw) Lejczak of Poland; one step-grandson, Irek.

Eugene Webster

Eugene Webster, 82, a resident of Whiting, Indiana, passed away Tuesday,

October 11, 1994 at St. Margaret`s Hospital in Hammond. He is survived by one

son, Edward (Diane) Wagner of Merrillville; one daughter, Jean (Steve) Nagy of

Whiting; six grandchildren, Sharon (Jerry) Moynihan of Whiting, Steve (Grace)

Nagy of Whiting, Mike (Karen) Nagy of Whiting, Douglas (Sandra) Wagner of

Indianapolis, Barbara (Mike) Kosich of Lansing, Judy (Jack) Zackey of Chicago;

nine great-grandchildren; one great great-grandson. He was preceded in death by

his wife, Mary in January,1994.

CA.; one daughter, Patricia A. (Donald) McCurdy of Westville, Indiana; six

Home (Hobart), corner of Rt 51 & 7th Street, with Rev. Sally Newhall

officiating. Interment at Calumet Park Cemetery, Merrillville. Friends may call

at the Burns Funeral Home (Hobart) on Thursday, 2 to 8 p.m.

Mary was a former employee of Tip Top and Tittle's Grocery Stores (meat

departments).
