George R. Bennett

Hammond

The Reverend George Richard Bennett, 97, passed away Sunday, December 3,

1995. Preceded in death by his wife, Grace, Rev. Bennett is survived by his

daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Phil Bachman of Hammond; his sister and

brother-in-law, Lillian and Brun Leslie of East Longmeadow, Massachusetts and

extended family.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, December 7, 1995 at 11 a.m. from

the Burns-Kish Funeral Home, 5840 Hohman Ave., Hammond, IN. with Rev. Phillip

Smith officiating. Interment at Greenwood Memorial Park, Phoenix, Arizona.

Friends may call at the funeral home from 3 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday. Please

omit flowers. In their stead, a memorial to Hospice of the Calumet Area or to

any helping organization which has touched the giver's heart would be

appreciated.

Marie Bubanovich , 85, of Hammond, IN. passed away Sunday, December 3,

1995. She is survived by her sister, Ann (Joseph) Raganyi of Hammond; two

special nieces, JoAnn (Thomas) Ellison of Munster and Nancy (Thomas) Summers of

Hammond; special nephew, Jack (Mary Kay) Ragan of Arizona; many great nieces

and nephews; several great great nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her

husband Paul, three brothers and one sister.

Funeral services will be on Thursday, December 7, 1995, 9:30 a.m. from the

Solan Funeral Home for 10 a.m. Mass at St. John Bosco Catholic Church with

Reverend Stanley Dominik officiating. Burial at St. Joseph Cemetery in Hammond,

IN. Friends may visit with the family on Wednesday at the Solan Funeral Home,

Mrs. Bubanovich was a longtime area resident; member of St. John Bosco

Catholic Church; member of the Rosary Society; retired from Lever Brothers and

a member of the Retirement Club.

Hilda Bultema, 69 of Cedar Lake, Indiana, passed away Saturday, December 2,

1995. She is survived by her husband, Russell; two sons, Allen (Doreen) and Ron

(Beverly); three daughters, Grace (William) VanderMolen, Joyce (Floyd)

VanderMeer and Beverly (David) Kramer; 24 grandchildren; three

great-grandchildren; two brothers, Peter (Mary) Zeldenrust and Neal (Dolly)

Zeldenrust; four sisters, Kay (Duurt) VanderWall, Nellie Smit, Rena (Bob) Ooms

and Alyda (Marshall) VanSchouwen; numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in

death by her sister, Coba Huizenga.

Christian Reformed Church in Munster with Rev. Herman Schutt officiating.

away Sunday, December 3, 1995. He is survived by his wife, Marjorie (nee

California and Walter (Adelle) Traylor of Birmingham, Alabama; two God-sons,

residence. She was born June 4, 1932 in Gary, Indiana the daughter of Hubert

Oliver and Josephine Maude (Shaner) Davis. A Portage resident for 34 years

formerly of Hobart Township she was married April 18, 1953 in Hammond, Indiana

to Michael F. Fagen. A 1950 graduate of Hammond High School she attended

Baldwin Wallace College in Ohio for one year. She was a retired door greeter

employed by Portage K Mart for 10 years. Mrs. Fagen is survived by her husband

Michael of Portage; two sons, Michael Jr. (Roslyn) Fagen of Scottsdale, Arizona

and Scott (Shaun) Fagen of Newton, Mass.; three daughters, Susan Fagen of

Chesterton, Karen (James) Koch of Indianapolis and Barbara Fagen of DeMotte;

six grandchildren, James Preston Fagen of Scottsdale, Arizona, Ashley, Zachary,

Jared and Kristen Koch, all of Indianapolis and Nathaniel Fagen of Newton,

Mass.; her father, Hubert Oliver Davis Sr. of Merrillville; two brothers,

Hubert O. Davis Jr. of Albuquerque, New Mexico and Fred Davis of San Francisco,

California; seven nieces and nephews including Elizabeth DeVore of Houston,

Sister Alexa Suelzer, both Sisters of Providence of St. Mary of the Woods,

December 24, 1915 in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Attended St. Patrick Elementary

School in Fort Wayne and attended St. Joseph College in Collegeville, Indiana.

Graduated from Catholic University in Washington D.C. as a Basselin Scholar.

Ordained at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in Fort Wayne, Indiana

on May 30, 1942 by Bishop John Noll. His first assignment was as a teacher in

Central Catholic High School in Fort Wayne, followed by his serving as

Assistant Pastor at St. Vincent Church in Elkhart, Indiana from 1943 to 1947.

From 1947 to 1957 he served at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church in Hammond as

Assistant Pastor. In June of 1957 he was appointed Pastor at St. Thomas Aquinas

Church in Knox, Indiana. In September of 1960 he became Chaplain at St.

Catherine Hospital in East Chicago where he faithfully ministered to the sick

for 32 years until June of 1992. Father Suelzer also served as a moderator of

St. Luke Physician Guild, Calumet Area and was Diocesan Moderator of the

National Council of Catholic Nurses. He was also very active in the Serra Club

of the Calumet Area. Stanley J. Totos, Sr. Calumet City Stanley J. Totos,

Sr., 79, of Calumet City, Illinois, passed away Sunday, December 3, 1995 at St.

Margaret Mercy Hospital, Hammond. He is survived by his wife, Genevieve J. (nee

Korup); one daughter, Marge (Cass, Jr.) Casmir of Hammond; one son, Stanley

(Bonnie) Totos of Calumet City; seven grandchildren, Tim Totos, Jill Totos,

John Totos, Jennifer Totos, April (Joe) Grisham, Jean Casmir and Amy Casmir;

one great-granddaughter, Terra Totos; numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral

services will be held Wednesday, December 6, 1995, 9:30 a.m. from the Castle

his loving wife, Jean. He was a member of the American Steel Foundry 25 Year
