Elizabeth E. Benko, 79, of East Chicago, passed away Friday, December 9,
1994, at St. Catherine Hospital. She is survived by her beloved husband, Paul;
sister-in-law, Margaret (Ralph) Cave of Hammond; brother-in-law, William Benko
of Lansing, cousin, Ann Jurik; several nieces and nephews and dear friends,
Steve and Elaine Chovanec.
Funeral services will be held Monday, December 12, 1994, at 10:30 a.m.

Pastor Ludovit Vajda officiating. Viewing at the cemetery chapel on Monday from

Sigmund E. Bittner, 75, of Highland, passed away Thursday, December 8,
1994. He is survived by wife, Marjorie; one son, James (Cindy) Bittner of Crown
Point; one daughter, Leta (Daniel) Kegebein of Texas; five grandchildren; one
great grandson; mother, Zenobia Bittner of Hobart; one sister, Irene (John)
Cioroianu of Griffith; also, several nieces and nephews.

Charles Canamar, Jr., 63, of Hammond, Indiana, passed away Thursday,
December 8, 1994, at his residence. He is survived by his mother, Mary
Parkerson of Hammond; three daughters, Ivy Salazar of East Chicago, Denise
Onate of Hammond and Sheila Canamar of Chicago, Illinois; one son, Charles
Canamar III of San Diego, California; five grandchildren and one great
granddaughter. Preceded in death by his daughter, Michelle Canamar and sister,

James C. Fisher
James C. Fisher, 84, of Munster, Indiana, passed away on Saturday,
December 10, 1994, at The Community Hospital, Munster. He is survived by one
daughter, Leslie Fisher of Chicago.

Eugene R. Jehle, 59, late of Hegewisch, passed away Friday, December 9,
1994, at home. He is survived by two sons, Randy Robert and Russell Ben Jehle;

teacher for the School City of Hammond, teaching learning disabled students at
George Rogers Clark High School for the past 9 years and was active in many

Mary A. Kaminski, 87, of Munster, formerly of Whiting, passed away
Friday, December 9, 1994 at The Community Hospital, Munster. She is survived by
loving daughters, Loretta Thompson of Niles, Illinois and Margaret Kaminski of
Munster; loving son, Leonard (Candace) Kaminski of Highland; four
grandchildren, Gregory, Maureen and Glen Thompson, and Kimberly Kaminski; many
nephews and nieces. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Albert.

Martha Loretta Keriacos, 86, of Ethelsville, Alabama, a Hessville
resident for many years, passed away on Thursday, December 8, 1994, in
Aliceville, Alabama. She is survived by two daughters, Cynthia (James) Foster
of Aliceville, Alabama and Patricia (Robert) Taylor of Hammond, Indiana; one
brother, Cleatus Woodard and one sister, Irene Soice, both of Prescott,

Leona M. Rak
Leona M. Rak, 72, of Hegewisch, died in her daughters home of
complications from cancer. She was born December 25, 1921 in Indiana, to Joseph
and Frances Dobos. She was united in marriage to the late Dr. Michael J. Rak,
September, 1945. She assisted her husband in his dental practice for 40 years
while raising a family of six children with tenderness and love. She is
survived by her children, Lori (Wayne) Bognar, Mary (Paul) Smith, Karen (Joe)
Heindlmeyer, Liz (Stan) Jasek, Dr. Michael (Leigh) Rak, Dr. Daniel (Diane) Rak
and 14 grandchildren. She is also survived by her brothers, Fred (Dolores)
Dobos, Alvin (Charlene) Dobos, Ted Dobos and sister, Jean (Gus) Monos and a
caring brother-in-law, John (Esther) Rak.

Jerry P. Volom
Jerry P. Volom, 45, of Merrillville, passed away at St. Anthony Medical
Center on Thursday, December 8, 1994. He was a member of Our Lady of
Consolation Church and past president of the parish Holy Name Society. Jerry
was employed as a Lake County Police Officer and was the first D.A.R.E. Officer
for the Lake County Sheriff's Department. He was member of the Lake County
Policy Association #72; Past Vice President of the Fraternal Order of Police
Chris Anton Lodge #125; a Precinct Committeeman for the Town of Merrillvile
District #3; Board member of Independence Hill Conservancy District; past
president of both the Merrillville Democratic Club and the Magic Glass Corvette
Club; a proud member of the Harley Owner Group of the Calumet Region.
He was preceded in death by his father, William Michael Volom in 1984. He
is survived by his mother, Mary of Merrillville; brother, Vic (Donna) Volom of
Valparaiso; sister, Mary Theresa (Rev. Jeff) Coester of Shabbona, Illinois;
nieces and nephews: Matthew, Sean and Susan Volom, Jeffrey and Christine
