Joseph Adams

Joseph Adams, 67, of Fort Myers, Florida, died Wednesday, November 8,

1995. A graduate of Notre Dame Unviersity and Illinois Institute. Mr. Adams was

a Professor and Department Head of the Computer Technology Department at Purdue

University. Formerly of Merrillville, Indiana, he had resided in Ft. Myers for

the past three and a half years. Surviving are his wife of 44 years, Carol of

Ft. Myers; three children, Teresa Lagerloff of Mentor, Oh., David of Crown

Point, IN. and Joseph of W. Lafayette, IN.; two sisters, Wanda Grabowski of

Clearwater, FL. and Marian Busse of Arlington Heights, IL; seven grandchildren.

A Memorial Mass will be celebrated Tuesday, November 14, 1995 at 10 a.m.

at Saint Stephen the Martyr Catholic Church, 5920 Waite, Merrillville, Indiana.

Mary Lou Bartok (nee Chaffee), 60, of Highland, IN., passed away

Thursday, November 9, 1995. Survived by husband of 41 years, Joe A. Bartok; one

son, Paul (Dania Hoshaw) Bartok of Highland; daughter, Pamela Kennson of

Indianapolis; one brother, Earl Chaffee of Hammond; two sisters, Betty Sorba of

Hobart and Pearl (Donald) Lisle of Highland; also survived by Steven and

Branden Hoshaw and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, November 13, 1995, 10 a.m. at the

Fagen-Miller Funeral Home, 2828 Highway Ave., Highland, Indiana, with Msgr. A.

H. Van Nevel officiating. Burial at Elmwood Cemetery, Hammond, Indiana. Friends

may call at the funeral home on Saturday evening 5 to 8 p.m. and Sunday 2 to 5

and 7 to 9 p.m. with a rosary Sunday at 2:30 p.m.

Mrs. Bartok was a devoted wife and mother and she was a member of Our

Lady of Grace Church of Highland.

Shirley Ann Brown

Shirley Ann Brown, 59, of Portage, Indiana, passed away Friday, November

10 1995 at Porter Memorial Hospital. She was born January 12, 1936 in Equality,

Illinois the daughter of Carroll and Gladys (Branham) Moore. A Portage resident

for 32 years, formerly of Equality, Illinois. She was married April 27, 1956 in

Hobart to Robert Lee Brown who preceded her in death on October 17, 1989. She

was employed as a clerical worker for Northwest Indiana Markets now Strack and

Van Til. She is survived by one son, Robert Gregory Brown of Portage; one

daughter, Dana LeeAnn (Charles Todd) Garrett of Lafayette; her father, Carroll

Moore of Eldorado, Illinois; one grandson, Robert Ryan Brown of Colorado

Springs, Colorado; two brothers, Gene (June) Moore of Atlanta, Georgia and Bill

(Rosalind) Moore of Equality Illinois; one sister, Betty (Harry) Hewlett of

Royalton, Illinois; many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her husband,

mother and brother, Bob Moore. Funeral services will be held Monday,

one sister, Anne (Dick) Brouwer of West Chester, Illinois; two step-sons,

William (Ethel) Sikma of Lansing, Illinois and James (Sharon) Sikma of St.

Anne, Illinois; five step-grandchildren, five step-great grandchildren and many

nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her husband Henry Sikma in 1973.

He had served in Europe and Africa and was the recipient of the Bronze Star.
