Cara Ann Christy of Crown Point was recently selected to participate in Nationals' 2000 Miss Jr. Teen Indianapolis pageant competition Sept. 2.

Should Christy win she will represent Indiana at the National Competition in Fla. where more than $60,000 in prizes and awards will be presented.

Kenneth J. Gabriel, a junior at Purdue University majoring in mechanical engineering technology and a Crown Point resident, recently participated in AMSTED Industries Co-operative Education Day. This is his second work session at the corporate headquarters in Chicago. AMSTED's program offers college students the opportunity to combine their academic training with real world on-the-job experience during their undergraduate years.

Susan Elizabeth Hrapack is a recipient of a National Merit Scholarship.

She is a graduate of Crown Point High School.

Hfrapcak is the daughter of Richard and Karen Hrapcak of Crown Point.

Matthew Landreth, a 1996 graduate of Crown Point High School was a recent graduate of DePauw University in Greencastle with an honors degree in Psychology.

Landreth will be attending the University of Pittsburgh School of Law this fall.

HOBART - Winners of the HIEDC, Hobart Industrial Economic Development Corporation Workforce Survey Drawing recently were announced. The McGuire family of Hobart won two roundtrip tickets on Pan Am Airlines to a variety of destinations accessible via the new service out of Gary Airport. Winners of the $100 in groceries were Joyce Hamady and Connie Stainko. HIEDC would like to thank everyone who participated in the survey. Results are being compiled and a composite report will be made available to the public in the near future. Individual survey information will remain confidential. Michael Pajkos, son of Vince and Alice Pajkos of DeMotte, has been named a United States National Award Winner. He will appear in the United State Achievment Academy Official Yearbook, which is published nationally. Pajkos is a 2000 graduate of Kankakee Valley High School attending summer sessions at Indiana University. He is the grandson of Tillie Ahrendt of DeMotte and Marilyn Pajkos of South Holland.

Elisabeth Bilinski of Cedar Lake, daughter of Madelynn and Randy Potts of Cedar Lake and of Donald Bilinski of Lowell, was recently selected to participate in Nationals' 2000 Miss Jr. Teen Indianapolis pageant competition Sept. 2.
