Indiana ranks near the bottom in infant mortality

E.J. Brown, 10 weeks old, is held by his mother Shantell Brown in the neonatal intensive care unit at Community Hospital in Munster. E.J. was born premature weighing 1 pound, 10 ounces at 24 weeks. E.J. has received care in the hospital's level III neonatal intensive care unit. The only medical intervention he has at this point is a feeding tube. He will be able to go home once he is able to "nipple" on his own.
