Whiting works to improve lakefront living

Whiting parks workers Matt Aponte, left, and Matthew Augustyn rake water off home plate last summer at the Oil City Stadium at Standard Diamonds Park in Whiting. The ballpark, which is home to Whiting High School and Calumet College of St. Joseph teams, earned a 2011 Community Achievement Award from the Indiana Association of Cities and Towns.
