Try this experiment, listen to your local police channel for an evening then listen to Hobart. That's if you really are willing to take the time and really find out yourself "what you are going to do about it" instead of the cowardly method of just trolling and complaining!!

- All you people talking trash about Hobart PD, why don't you research a little? Download a free scanner app and listen to how prompt and professional HPD is. Hobart doesn't allow crime regardless of race,age,and gender. They take each call seriously and often times respond with multiple officers. I feel just as safe in Hobart as I did when I lived in Crown Point. Hobart if far from perfect however, NO city is. When you are sitting at your computer hating on the internet at night do you ever notice a patrolman driving down your street with the spotlight on making sure you, your property and family are safe? I see this all the time!! When your loved one's heart stops and your panicking and a officer shows up minutes after hearing the ambulance call and he starts to perform CPR in an attempt to save YOUR loved one life are you going to complain how bad Hobart is? When you are in bed and your doorbell rings, a officer is at your door telling you he was patrolling your block and he noticed your dome light on and wanted to make sure no crime has occurred or you don't wake up and try to go to work with a dead battery, are you still going to complain about Hobart? When your house alarm goes off due to your own mistake and you tell the alarm company/PD everything is fine over the phone and a officer shows up just to make contact with you to verify you are safe, are you still going to complain about Hobart? Yep I get it, public safety is their job, however a lot of whats stated above is over and beyond their duty. Again, Hobart is far from perfect and I don't work for or in Hobart, but I'm telling you facts. So give your keyboard a rest, tune your scanner in and do a little research.

- Hats off to the Hobart FD, and PD for a tough last 36 hours. In the last 36 hours there has been a fatality at the Dollar INN, someone shot themselves in the chest and passed away shortly after arriving at the ER, a roll-over accident at 61st & Colorado, the chase from Valpo, and now this tragic accident. Even though this is the job of PD/FD and Hobart is far from perfect these situations still are stressful and tragic for all involved. Keep up the great work Hobart!
