The solution to the pension problem is simple - stop hiring young, healthy women as teachers that retire at age 52 after working 30 years and live until they are 90. Instead, hire some old, overweight men. Problem solved.

On a more serious note - I think we can all agree that a portion of the state's surplus funds should be returned to the schools. So contact your representatives ASAP. Send your feedback and comments to the people who can actually make these decisions and educate your friends and neighbors to do the same.

Is it an option to rent/borrow field space from other cities? Surely in an area as densely populated as Northwest Indiana, I would think we could find someone to share diamonds with us until we are able to update ours at a financially responsible cost.

Or, perhaps the town could reach an agreement with another town for Munster residents to join their programs at discounted prices.

Does anyone have any other ideas to help these kids play ball?
