- Shame them in public. They should be made to wear signs identifying them as vandals. Large pictures of their filthy, offensive graffiti should also decorate the signs. Have them stand for 4 hours outside busy venues like grocery store, youth soccer games, Lemon Zest Fest entrance, etc. The lesson would be more meaningful and personal than the probation they will certainly get from the juvenile justice system. You might remember seeing something like this on 20/20.

- "...A recent Indiana State Board of Accounts audit found the (Campagna) charter school owed the state $202,789 plus interest, as well as $200,000 to its managing company, Campagna Academy Inc. Campagna CEO Elena Dwyre said in May that closing a charter school was a new situation for the state and Campagna, and both were learning how to do it."----You mean, how to cut the Lake County schools' funding accordingly to recoup this money as soon as possible?

- Ain't God good to the great state (sic) of Indiana? We'll pave the way to charter school Nirvana with risky debt. The reporter wisely incorporated the possibility of CSotD's demise and the responsibility for default on these loans. This very school came close to having its charter revoked, resulting in a change in administration and sponsorship. This gamble of $13.5 million or more comes on the heels of deep cuts to the public schools. What a slap in the face to the many teachers cut by Gary Public Schools this past spring. This construction is not creating competition with the public schools, it is building a permanent, parallel infrastructure to them.

- Reality check: Mr. Harding, the MacBook, the teachers, the mayor, the no grade policy and all the people that talk bad about EC didn't conspire to keep 2/3 of the class from getting diplomas in June. Kids wouldn't try to reverse no-grades in order to avoid credit recovery. The problem grew as the seniors put off credit recovery all year and some failed even more classes. (Ah, there was an endless supply of tomorrows.) There were individual plans, meetings, notices, conferences, extra transportation, and personal computers. Still, the work did not get done, did it? Take the responsibility for what has been left undone. For two years, the kids were told that this would happen.
