  2. Yeah, sweep it under the rug & pretend it didn't happen because "what will the neighbors think?!" What an ignorant thing to say. Maybe the girl WANTS people to know her story so this doesn't happen to someone else. Maybe her mother was at her wits end trying to get something done about this and finally went to the newspaper. How many kids have to go through this before the system decides it's enough? I'm pretty sure I'd have a lot of hatred for a man who molested my daughter, and I would do everything in my power to make sure he was brought to justice. This girl is a victim of sexual abuse, not a tattle-tale.

    I sincerely hope you don't have any children.

  5. I agree on the unknowns. I simply commented on the facts provided. For all I know, she could have been picked up for a minor offense, attacked in jail and forced to defend herself. I understand that people make mistakes and I didn't mean to "pass judgement" on anyone. I'm CERTAINLY not a "pregnant women hater," having been a pregnant woman myself. However, just because a woman is pregnant doesn't give her the right to attack a guard, or play the victim when she faces the consequences for her actions. Should she be rewarded or excused for getting into a fight & going after a guard (again... while in jail?) I don't think so.
    And Mykel, my guess is that we taxpayers would be, or have been footing the bill all along. Sad but true.
    For what it's worth... I hope I am wrong and there's hope for this young woman.

  6. I'd like to see the results of that tox screen. I agree with Mykel... What's a pregnant woman getting into fights (IN JAIL) for, anyway? The death of that baby (yes, I consider it a baby) is sad, but what was in store for the poor thing once it was born??

  7. It's beyond me that a Judge can review a child molestation case and decide that it's not worth the money to put this scumbag behind bars. I'll bet if it was her kid, he wouldn't have made it to Texas in the first place. Such a shame to live in a society where you can get more time for selling weed (NOT condoning drugs/dealing) than permanently damaging an innocent child. I hope that creep gets what's coming to him and this family can start to heal.
