Avernus

  1. I've worked pretty closely with school systems in the past, so I do have a couple of thoughts on this. First, schools' budgets over the past years have been rapidly declining thanks to the choices of our government. Second, do a search for past news this year & you'll find that Hammond had to let around 200 people go at the beginning of the school year thanks to those dwindling funds. Third, the cost to back up the data from what has to be over ten thousand users on a regular basis is absolutely massive. Fourth, believing that the "all powerful tech gods" will somehow keep everything save in the event of a disaster is naive. The responsibility to keep data safe and backed up ultimately falls to the creator of the data. Don't get me wrong - not having a usable, recent backup is NOT good practice. I don't, though, expect my valuables to magically show up in my safety deposit box at the bank; I have to take them there myself.
