I have to get a few things clear. First of all, Coach Sherman STINKS! He has had a lot of very talented ladies on the team for the past three years and will continue to have for the next couple years. It is not because of HIM these girls made it as far as they did the last couple years. He didn't deserve the "Coach of the Year" award last year. The girls are simply that talented that they earned it themselves. I think he is arrogant, condescending, demeaning and just plain awful! I'm sorry. This is my opinion. I believe he owes every single player and parent an apology especially the ladies that he has destroyed along the way. I know these are some harsh words but I have NO RESPECT for that man. I hope he never has a daughter of his own and some coach treats his daughter the way he has treated some of the girls on the LC team. (Or maybe a part of me hopes he does have a girl). Then again, she wouldn't deserve that treatment either just because of her father. No one should ever deserve what he has done to some of the ladies on the present and past teams.
My opinion regarding the freshman girls playing in the starting lineup is they have to earn it. And, they may have earned it.

Karberg…should have started (I guess) but should have been pulled immediately after the HR was hit. Coach Sherman’s decision to not remove her blew me and other parents in the stands away. Any time one of his other pitchers was struggling, he immediately replaced them. So, why didn’t he do it? There was clearly something keeping him from making that move. It can’t be that stupid or clueless. Timing is Everything!

Aspyn…should have been a DH only. She is not defensively ready yet. She has the talent but not in the field just yet.

Again, these are my personal opinions. If the arrogant, condescending, demeaning Coach Sherman would have made the right decisions, the outcome would have been different. But, no doubt the emails to the Athletic Director and the Coach would have still happened after the season was over and they are well-deserved emails if I might add. Unfortunately, the AD and Sherman have ulterior motives and are NOT looking out for the best interest of the players!!!! I can’t wait to see what next year brings and the year after and the year after.

I have to stress this again. In no way, shape or form do I feel the girls on the Freshman, JV or Varsity don't belong there or have not earned their spot on the perspective teams. I believe that have all worked very hard and earned their spots. Regarding Karberg, she is technically not a Varsity player. She was brought up for the last 8 or whatever games. My issue is she is not experienced enough yet. Also, when Chesterton got her timing, she should have been pulled immediately after the HR. I also think some of the comments are a little off base but I have to say that for the last 3 years, I have witnessed first hand what Coach Sherman has done to these girls. Next year will be very interesting. My hope is he resigns or is fired. If not, I hope he has learned from his mistakes. He didn't earn any of the titles, the girls did! The girls can't earn titles if key decisions are not made. Coach Sherman did not use common sense. My issue is soley the coaching and AD. LC has a lot of talent. Are you aware that there were several girls from the Varsity team that didn't want to play this year? What does that say? Part of me says these parents have a right to vent. This loss was devastating and another proof that he is not a softball coach.

First off, LC Softball has a lot of talent. We can't take that away from them. What should be taken away is Coach Sherman and possibly the Athletic Director. Believe me when I tell you, there is no talking to these two. We tried and failed. Check out the other sports, most of them are dysfunctional as well. Maybe instead of attacking the girls, you should look at the coaches and the "higher ups." The is were the problems start. Hiring coaches who have very little experience. Coaches who quit one sport and then are hired for another sport.

Your post is a joke. Karberg is INEXPERIENCED at the Varsity level. All she has is a fast ball, outside, inside. That's it! She may have deserved to start but I will tell you this, Chesterton got her fast ball early! In the 2nd inning. The damage started in the 3rd inning. She should have been pulled and replaced by any of the 3 other pitchers sitting on the bench. That is common sense!

I am looking forward to your posts next year or the year after when your daughter is replaced by a future Indian Varsity player. Someone who has not EARNED the position. He has made big mistakes in his coaching. He always looks ahead to future years and not at the game on hand.

Reality check...Coach Sherman is not a good or great softball coach. Or, a softball coach at all. Period

These comments are not ridiculous they are 100% justified. We are parents who have kept our mouths shut for way too long. We have watched this coach destroy some of these players on the LC team. Obviously, you have not been around this coach for the past three years. Have you heard what this man has been saying to these girls in the dugout? In practice? During a game? When my daughter would come home last year and tell me things he has said, I would chalk it up to exaggeration by a teenager. I would tell her to work harder and show him what you have to offer the team. Well, this year has been even more horrendous! I can't even imagine what next year will bring. My hope is that he resigns and Coach Iwema takes over the team. She is a true softball coach. We all know that trying to speak to the AD is not an option. He walks around LC with rose-colored glasses. Complaining to AD or coach will only mark our daughters or sons at LC. Why do you think everyone is commenting without attaching their real names?

I don't agree with some of the posts on here that say some of these girls don't deserve to be on the team. I do believe each girl has earned their spot. That is my opinion.

Regarding the game the other night, I don't care what anyone posts on this site about how great of a guy he is or anything, he should have stopped the rally immediately after the HR was hit. He was looking past that game to the future of LC Girls Softball. He kept that inexperience freshman pitcher in for another entire inning. The score would have been 5-4 if he would have pulled her out. The rally would have ended. Timing is everything. Our girls would have not been taken out of the game mentally if he would have been a coach at that time during that game. This has been something he has done every single year since he became head coach.

Regarding the Coach of the Year last year, Coach Sherman NEVER earned that title. He has had a tremendous amount of talent from the get go. These girls would have won state this year if he made the right decisions! What will the AD do? Absolutely nothing! His comment to an email was LC lost because Chesterton scored more runs. Now that is a joke. Maybe the issue isn't only the coach but the AD Tobias too.
