  1. I am living a very similar nightmare right now with one of my step-sons. If the help is there, it is not affordable. No one entity is to blame. Blaming anyone from the families to the government to the doctors are not going to solve anything. However, I believe iInsurance companies are part of the problem as well. Our mental health benefits allow for 26 outpatient visits per year and 18 inpatient days per lifetime with no long term care. If you were limited to this with any other illness, there would be public outrage.
    I guess it is easier to judge, if you have not experienced it. And hey, if you want to experience it, let me know. I have not had a "normal" day in ages. You will definitely have an appreciation for those of us taking care of mentally ill family members.
