  1. CitizenVoter - I'd like to add that this legislation doesn't have anything to do with the payroll of mental healthcare workers. This invalidates your comment about Dr. Gurauskas being worried about his job based on the subject matter of his commentary.

My best advice to you, CitizenVoter, is to seek an education on the subject at hand, and in general.

  2. CitizenVoter - Your comment either stems from ignorance on the issue of mental health in this country, or a problem with reading comprehension, or both. If you payed attention, you would see that untreated mental illness in this country is what leads to YOU already paying money for individuals with mental illness to be on long term disability. When effectively treated, mental illness can be managed and individuals with these illnesses can be healthy, productive citizens (taxpayers as well), who are no longer burdening these systems. The cost of treatment is far less than what you are currently paying. Get the figures and do the math. Effective and ongoing treatment for mental health in this country will SAVE this country's taxpayers money!

  3. @ Fast' Ed, true anger might not have had anything to do with it. It could have been nothing more than psychiatric symptoms. What you describe might be how you'd go about the same thing if you were very angry, but not the thinking that would likely come from an individual with a thought disorder, for instance.

  4. @wallysmom, I believe this perceived "selfish and childish" behavior is exactly why this individual needs St. Margaret's psychiatric services. Rather than speak out of emotion, try using some reasoning and see that simply imprisoning someone with mental health issues is not the answer.

  5. @ commodore -

You can always dish out the cost it would take to care for these individuals once they enter the correctional system through incarceration. Your call. I'd take the lesser expensive of the two (hint: the former).

  6. @ Justice for ALL -

It is obvious you have no real mental health knowledge. There are very well-defined criteria for Autism, and it is not as easy to mis-diagnose as ADHD for instance.|

I recommend you educate yourself about the subject matter you are going to comment on. You don't have to agree, but an educated opinion would certainly look different than your comment.
